Question for christians... Is Santeria a sin or evil?
Santeria is a secret religion that contacts spirits and deities to tell the future of anyone willing to pay. Believers also sacrifice animals as an offering to these deities so that the animal's blood makes them more powerful. Are these spirits or deities really demons? If they are demons, can demons predict the future accurately?
of course Christians think anything other than Jesus is evil
their religion is based on animal and human sacrifice too
they just dint like the competition
why would you say it's a question for Christians? I'm christian in America and it's not part of "our" religion. I think it comes from another country.(perhaps South America, "some" Spanish) and their inhabitants brought it with them to America.
Never heard of it, but we are not to worship anyone or anything else (other than God). If these people are sacrificing to another "god" or spirit, then they are definitely doing evil. Steer clear of this. God bless you.
It it sinful to be active in the things you are talking about.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church States:
2117 All practices of magic or sorcery, by which one attempts to tame occult powers, so as to place them at ones service and have a supernatural power over others - even if this were for the sake of restoring their health - are gravely contrary to the virtue of religion. These practices are even more to be condemned when accompanied by the intention of harming someone, or when they have recourse to the intervention of demons. Wearing charms is also reprehensible. Spiritism often implies divination or magical practices; the Church for her part warns the faithful against it. Recourse to so-called traditional cures does not justify either the invocation of evil powers or the exploitation of anther's credulity.
Santeria is evil, and those who practice it are sinning. God strictly forbids any form of fortune telling or divination, and sacrificing an animal mocks Christ's death on the Cross, since He was the only Sacrifice now necessary.
These spirits are demonic, and while they can make guesses about the future and/or align situations to bring their predictions, they cannot be 100% accurate. That's why some things come true, but many things never happen or don't happen in the way that they were predicted.
Only God knows the future, and the test of His prophets was that they were completely correct. Santeria is not anything that a Christian should even be considering -- much less participating in.
Santeria is a religion and is well known in the Caribbean and also in South Florida. It is more than fortune telling. Read about it a little before you ask these questions.
I dunno. They certainly could be demons, and judging by what I've read, they probably are. And in that case, it constitutes a sin. "Santeria" is also an excellent song by Sublime, by the way.
