You've hear the Sublime song, right? Santeria is the guy who visits your girl when you are in jail. Takes her from you. If she's that easy and shallow, good rid dens to her I think.

If you've heard of the potency of VOODOO and black magic practices [African origin], then SANTERIA is the Spanish/Cuban version of it that identifies strongly with certain Catholic saints [Yoruba].

They slaughter live animals and use its blood in their rituals to either cast or ward off spells. In the U.S. this is secretly practiced in some Southern States and, even more so south of the border, in South America.

OBEAH, which is another form of Voodoo, is practiced in Jamaica and British West Indies, and they also perform black magic rituals for their spells.

For your own good, it would be best to keep a good distance away from either of these extremely superstitious beliefs, practices and cults.

Peace be with you.

I think Santeria is a form of religion, it's usually practiced by Cubans or other Hispanics, it is NOT demonic in any way. The person with these powers prays for you, and asks certain Saints(many of whom we aren't even familiar with) to release you from a spell, usually evil or bad.
I have seen someone practice this and it was fascinating. This woman walked around a room smoking a cigar, blowing the smoke into the room and saying prayers. She wore a cross the entire time. After she was done she opened a closet where she must have had about 20 religious statues!

Santeria is the worship of the African Gods and the Christian Saints, Santeria litter ally translates into 'Worship of the Saints.' It also has a lot to do with ancestor worship.

Some of the Gods in Santeria are Oya-Yansan, Oshun, Yemaya, Ogun, Shango and so on. Santeria can be practiced like this, the Gods can receive offerings of meat, blood, fruit, perfume, incense, and anything sacred to them.

Saints can only accept offerings of fruit, ancestors are considered part of the honorable dead, so may receive offerings of fruit and such.

Santeria spiritual system about God/s is basically described like this,

The highest God- God. He is unknowable, and uncaring to humans in-general.

The Orishas-Lower level spirits, kindle like angels, that are worshiped and thought of as pure spiritual being that can intercede between God and Humans.

Honorable Dead- The dead who have lead very good lives, or ancestors. They can be invoked to intercede between God and living humans.

In Santeria, usually one finds a Godparent, someone who will help them and initate them. -may be either male or female.-
Initiation means you fully accept the religion, and are claimed by one of the praticular Orishas. -considered your parent there on.-

Rituals are done in many different manners. For instance, lets say a someone wants to be lucky in love. They would like candles that are colored for the specific purpose and are coated in certain oils and made from certain ingrediants.
Then, they will invoke the Orisha Oshun -or another Orisha of love.- And make a small offering/liabation to that Orisha, and promise more if the Orisha will help them get lucky in love.
Once that person has gotten what they desired, they make an offering for the Orisha and thank them.
