They say they do not worship Satan, but that it is self worship...they are their own gods. Still too freak in creepy for me!!
I agree with Venom, stay away from them.
yes they hurt people and they have animal suffices and some still have human sacrifices i saw something on the news about this kid who went down to Mexico and he was killed by satanists for an offering to Satan
it's creepy s.h.i.t.
and i strongly advise you not to get involved
and i wouldn't call it a religion I'd call it a cult
I don't know all the things they do but yes it is a religion and since they believe in opposite things such as evil is good, etc., probably they could hurt people. But a satanist would have to answer your question as to what all they do.
Just like I worship my God in my way there are those that worship Satan and bow down to him. Do they hurt others maybe the fanatics but for the most part they hurt themselves and their eternal life.
Modern Satanism is generally (though mistakenly) regarded as a creation of Aleister Crowley (1875-1947). Aleister was in fact a very prominent ceremonial magician who based his rituals partly upon Judeo-Christian principles. He was raised in a Plymouth Brethren family, but developed an early dislike of organized conservative Christianity. After university, he joined the Order of the Golden Dawn, which practiced ceremonial magic based on:
the Kaballah (a.k.a. Cabbalah, Cabala), a Jewish mystical tradition,
Rosicrucianism (a mystical blend of alchemy, Judaism, etc.),
Freemasonry (a men's fraternal organization), and
Theosophy (a Gnostic tradition believing in a common thread that links all religions).
He resigned from the Golden Dawn and later was appointed chief of the British section of the Ordo Templi Orientis (OTO), which blended ceremonial magic, sex Magic and Freemasonry. He remained the Outer Head of the Order from 1922 to 1947. He created a religion, called Thelema. Crowley's story was picked up by two tabloid newspapers, which called him the Wickedest Man in the World and the Great Beast 666 of Revelation. It is mainly from these "yellow press" articles that opponents of Crowley have assembled his present-day reputation. He is alleged to have committed at least one animal sacrifice, experimented with many illegal drugs and engaged in some sexual orgies. It is not known how much of this actually happened, and how much is imaginary -- created to satisfy his insatiable desire for publicity. Nor is it known how much of the time he was serious, and when he was behaving with tongue-in-cheek. Crowley has been accused of many criminal activities; however, he was never arrested, charged, tried or convicted of any crime. His prime aim was to contact his Holy Guardian Angel Aiwaz. The religion The Law of Thelema is largely derived from his work. He is known to have practiced a great deal of consensual sex magic with a single partner in private. His goal was to recapture the ancient pagan and Gnostic Christian mysteries of the Middle and Near East, which, he believed, incorporated sexual activity as part of their religious rituals. He was a prolific writer on Magick, a term that he created. (The term refers to ceremonial magic, and is used to differentiate that form of magick from performances by professional magicians.) Although Crowley did not consider himself a Satanist, many Satanists have incorporated elements from his writings into their own rituals. Many authors and TV personalities have stated that Crowley was the first Satanist, even though evidence points to the contrary. He passed through a Satanic phase, and did identify his guardian angel with Satan. But a number of 19th century literary greats such as Baudelaire, Byron, Shelley, etc. should more properly be regarded as the first Satanists,
Many Satanists use as their main symbol the Sigil of Baphomet. It is a goat's head, drawn within an inverted pentacle (5-pointed star with one point downward and two up, enclosed by a circle). Although elements within the Sigil have been in use since the 19th century, the version as shown has been a registered trademark of the Church of Satan since 1983.
The Church of Satan was created by Anton LaVey in the last century. The belief is also attributed to Alistair Crowley. They basically made up their religions incorporating various rites from other religions plus some stuff of their own. But then all religions are made up so theirs wasn't wildly exceptional.
Some teenagers also practice what they call Satanism. Basically they just vandalize stuff and are cruel to animals. They are almost always former Christians, who go back to Christianity a few weeks or months later.
Satanists are a group of Pol that worship the opposite of Christianity, they worship SELF. they do believe in "Do unto others" but that means if someone hurts you...you hurt them back; not necessarily physically. It's more of a ritual they perform to rid themselves of their "enemies" actions and to throw back at their enemy the same negative energy that was cast on them. kinda like black Voodoo practices. it's all very ritualistic and theatrical in a way.
it is a religion in that they gather together and discuss their philosophies and they do have rituals, that are designed to "mock" the christian church.
their philosophy is..if it feels good, do it. if it makes you happy, do it...if you want something, go after it.
why not go ogle "Church of Satan" and read more about it if you are interested in what they have to say about their religion.
i personally find all religion silly, BUT one cannot truly understand where someone is coming from if one only believes in rumor and half truth about each others religion.
Nah, it's just an excuse for people to act out everything they want to do in the name of Satan. There is no Satan to give people the power to do anything "supernatural".
But for people who like to dress in kinky leather costumes and perform rituals there isn't any place in Catholic or Mormon churches, etc. (Lil)
Satanism is a belief in opposing the god,and proclaiming the practitioner of this belief a god.
So ,if you practice satanism, you believe you are a god amongst gods.
Satanists don't hurt people nor animals.I should know,I was one of them 4 a time, but now I am pagan.
Personally, i would call it a cult. My brother was at one time a member of the C.O.S......he was hospitalized after an intensive overdose and at that time was reunited with family on the other side of the country. But obviously, the call was to strong to return, for after he did that, we have not heard from him since.
I have looked up some info in the past, and about all i can remember is that they believe in the law of equal force.

Check it out for yourself...only then can you make a complete and accurate informed decision.
I think that "Venom" has been watching entirely TOO many "scary movies" OR has been listening to the local ChristoNazi's too much.
Yes, Satanism is a real religion...as practiced by REAL Satanists. Notice, I stress the word REAL Satanist, if you are actually willing to look it up yourself (and not believe the tales told by the likes of the ChristoNazis) pop into a local bookstore, go to the Religions section, pick out a copy of the Satanic Bible, and look Thur it.
In there you will notice that it is EXPRESSLY forbidden to :
(1) kill an animal as a "sacrifice"
(2) harm children in ANY WAY
(3) mess with other folks in general, unless they start messing with you
SO, what I am saying in the long and short of it is this; Do your own research, and above all THINK FOR YOURSELF, don't listen to the non-informed babbling of someone (like Venom) who has absolutely NO IDEA of what they are talking about.
These should help as they are the definitive links to more information on Satanism rather than some of the hysteria you're getting from some of these answers:
