Default What is Satanism????

What exactly is it?

I have a friend who has been looking into it, and he says that it does Not mean worshiping the devil, which is what I previously thought it meant.

Also, I'm not trying to be rude or anything, I'm just curious about it.
Jesus Girl 777, I don't worship Satan.
I'm an atheist.

Satan is probably the guy you worship, therefore you are under the influence of satanism

Depends on which group.... Some of the groups are just about partying. (Like Benamin Franklin's "Hellfire Club") Some are about just a rejection of Christianity... and others are about using the name 'Satan' to reclaim personal freedoms. So, the definition varies, as groups vary. Just like the definition of Christianity for a Puritan was quite different from that of a Quaker.

Christan.org is a good reference for atheistic Satanism. Ignore the Christians because most of them are too ignorant to read anything on their own or do research.

it depends on the sect.

some people do in fact worship the devil, which is silly because they deny all of Christianity, when the devil/Satan is a christian concept.

you do what you want. do whatever works for you

but conservatives think that any religion that doesn't praise Jesus, and claim he is the Savior leads us away from God.... "towards Satan" according to them

Some believe the "Satan" was a name given to a much older god. The one that actually did create life. Xianity plagiarized much older religions, forced others to convert or die, then destroyed the evidence of the occult knowledge given to man by Satan, or Lucifer. This knowledge was to help mankind elevate themselves spiritually to the point of being gods themselves.

There are some Satanists who don't believe in any of sort of deity at all. They usually follow the works of Lavey and are basically atheistic in their belief system. They worship themselves as being gods already, and their motto is something akin to "do what though wilt, shall be the whole of the law". They also teach a healthy dose of responsibility to go along with their doctrine, pointing out that it is only favorable to be responsible to others who are responsible for themselves.

"Devil" worship is usually practiced by fools and posers, A handful of pissed off Xtians who don't know anything except what they've been taught by the bible, and because they don't like god anymore, choose to do the opposite of what the bible says. Real Satanists despise these types of people because they really give us a bad name.

We teach that we are Natural beings, and as such, should do what comes naturally.

We teach that all the seven deadly sins are falsehoods, as they all lead to mental, emotional, or physical gratification. I could explain this in detail if I have to.

We also teach responsibility, that we are responsible for our own lives.

We teach that animals and children are sacred, as they are Natural in the most complete sense as they have not been sullied by the likes of preconceptions or interference from humans in an animals case.

We teach to love completely they whom deserve our love, and to hate they who would wish us ill, for then love and hate won't become watered down, by trying to love everyone, even people that do rotten things.

We teach to learn all we can about our natural world, to learn history and symbolism, so that we can better connect to Nature.

We teach an understanding of all the forces of Nature, and how to balance those forces within ourselves.

We show that self-preservation is the highest law, as if you cannot preserve yourself, then how you can preserve anything?

And we show how to ritualized our emotions into magical workings, to accomplish something that would otherwise be unchangeable, and to rid ourselves of emotions that if held in could destroy us.

We frown upon drug use, as that makes a person less effective as a magician and a human being in general.

I could write a book but not here.

Your friendly neighborhood Satanist

True Satanism is in fact the original religion of the world. It was the original Paganism. The christian "religion" is false, and was created in order to remove knowledge and turn humanity away from the true Gods. Everything in the christian religion was stolen from Ancient Pagan religions that Prue-dated it by thousands of years. There is a ton of proof for this, if people would only look. True Satanism is in no way about "evil", "blood" or "darkness", and we DO NOT practice sacrifice! Cults are NOT True Satanism. They follow the christian teachings concerning Satan, which are all lies, which means they are following Christianity, NOT Satanism.

I am a Spiritual Satanist. Actually there are some sects that do worship the "devil" (commonly known as devil worshipers among the Satanist community we don?t consider them true Satanists) but you have to understand those are usually rebellious teenagers and people who feel rejected by society who think its cool to be evil (sacrifice animal, virgins, kill people, burn churches etc). But as a Satanist I have to say they don?t represent me and they give anyone who is a true Satanist a bad name. Actually I worship Satan and I know he is real. Many Satanists have seen Satan. He is not some evil monster out to get you. He is actually very loving and takes care of his own. Children and animals are sacred to him so he hates anyone who does things like what I mentioned above. He represents freedom and happiness.
You are not rude if you want to know more about Satanism you need to do some research and unfortunately there are a lot of Christians, Jews, and Muslims who feel they have a right to dictate what Satanism is. This in itself is a lot of the reason why some people who want to be a Satanist turn to stupid things and think whatever Christianity says is a sin is what is right. I have to say a big loud BULL SHIT. They don?t really know Satan. Satan stands for truth, justice, and ethics something none of these people have. Satan also stands for developing your self through meditation and yoga among other things so that you can be powerful happy also accessing the part of your mind that has been suppressed for centuries. Heal yourself and others, and interact with the true pagan gods (demons). There are a lot of kind and wonderful demons out there. It?s sad that people abused them and tried to bind them to circles in rituals and such to get them to do their bidding.
It's nice to know you have a friend looking into Satanism.
Here is a link about Satanism directed towards atheists.
