I don't think Satanists have special powers. I was listening on the radio a few weeks back and a guy was on who had documented the goings on in the Church of Satan and said there were ceremonies, but no magic or anything like that practiced. They believe in total indulgence, and rebuke any rules imposed by religion. Apparently, many celebrities and politicians are members.
Witchcraft is different. I don't know if I believe in it or not. I think they have powers (if its true) to heal/injure, affect people's minds, that sort of thing. I don't think they prey on just anyone, though.
They do it because it's their "religion" so to speak.

i think that's an implication of not being nice at least, if not evil.
normally I'm not so touchy, but this is just blatant ignorance, of which i see more and more on Y!A these days, and i just wish people would actually think and look things up before asking stupid questions.
Lavampda, you are a touchy thing, DB didn't mention evil or insinuate it. Mind you, I don't believe the power which some satanists or witches hold comes from God.
Witches do not believe in Satan and the practice of satanism would be more popular among those who believe in the Deity they worship or fear.
True power exists in all creatures; we are composed of energy and the way it is used is up to the individual and the amount of discipline and control exercised by the individual. Witches use their energy to promote positive change and a true witch would never use their craft to harm or manipulate any creature!
There is a world of difference in "Hollywood" magic and natural magic!
