while not a member myself, i was researching different religions in high school, and was surprised to find out that they don't actually worship Satan. they are just anti-Christianity, and all it's restrictions. crazy huh?
I'd say one of the more annoying misconceptions is this idea that Satanism is merely inverted Christianity, and must depend on Christianity on some philosophical level. That's ridiculous. The philosophy presented in "The Satanic Bible" can apply to just about any conceivable culture or time period.
There are of course the more obvious misconceptions, like the misunderstanding that Satanism is the same thing as devil worship. As we've been saying since 1966 (the first time a religion by the actual name of "Satanism", complete with a philosophy you could apply in real life, was created), or 1969 if you start with the publication of "The Satanic Bible": we're a non-theistic religion who takes Satan only as a symbol and archetype to work with.
And of course, all the claims in the 80s by the bad journalists, sensationalist talk show hosts, and money-hungry evangelists who wanted people to believe that there were roving bands of Satanists sacrificing animals and eating babies. The FBI looked into the hysteria and couldn't find one shred of evidence. They found a few isolated cases of loonies who'd decorate their doings in devilish aesthetics, but that's about it.
Again, you'd think people would have done their homework by now, and got information on Satanism from Satanists instead of tacky horror movies, church propaganda, and attention-starved teenagers. Oh well.

Just about anything people say when they don't read up on the subject themselves or ask a Satanist. The top ones are Child sacrifice: I have heard this from several places. The Truth: children and animals are Sacred to Satan and should never be harmed in any way.
Criminal activities: The Truth: Satanism advocates responsibility for your actions and advocates following the law. If you are a Satanist you are responsible for your actions if you choose to break the law you choose to take the consequences of doing so, and also you bring a bad name to other serious Satanists. Responsibility to the Responsible.
Promotion of Homosexuality or Sexual abuse of people etc. Any sex is fine as long as it is between two consenting adults in Satanism. Also we discourage degrading sexual activities (like Scat, domination etc) because we seek to elevate the individual.
We worship evil: Satan transcends the cultural concept of good and evil and is not what the Christians say he is and neither are the demons you must get to know him and his demons for yourself. He is unlike anything you have been told actually quite loving and nice.
Finally We Are Evil: this is the most common one I have heard and no. Go talk to a Satanist before saying this actually you will find us quite nice and easy to get along with for the most part we are not unlike other humans except we know the truth and seek to elevate ourselves. Also there are quite a few differences from individual to individual in Satanism. Also this is spread because there are not a lot of us who go around telling people they are Satanists. So you may not know it if you talk to one of us. Though there are a lot more of us than you might think.

I am a Spiritual Satanist, and i can say personally i find the most annoying misconception is that Satanism is about "evil" and "blood-sacrifices". I cant stand cults. They give Satanism a bad name that it does not truly deserve. Cults have no place in true Satanism. True Satanists do not under any circumstances perform any type of blood-sacrifice.
That Satan is evil
and Satanists are using blood offerings to Satan such as children, blood and killing people.
Satan says; Bring no harm to the ones that ha vent deserved it!
Satanism and Christianity are really the same thing. The Holy Bible is also The Satanic Bible. It just depends on your perspective of it. It's a dual, floating perception either way. There are people who think God is loving and permissive, and others who think he's evil and oppressive. Then there are people who think Satan is loving and permissive, and others who think he's evil and oppressive.
But remember that both God and Satan are fully God. They just share information about people. They can be anything to anyone for any purpose, tossing people back and forth in probably the most annoying human experience possible:
Imagine being in a ring of 24 people. The one thing you want most in the world is the ball that they're throwing back and forth over your head. They know you want that ball so badly that you'd die for it, but they play a game of keep-away with you. Half the people are laughing at you for wanting the ball, and the other half are mad at you. They keep pushing you back and forth, making you fall down. The laughing and shouts of anger throb in your head. You're crying because all you want to do is play with the ball, and nobody will let you. They instead torture and humiliate you endlessly. That's what it's like for the spirit to be between the grips of God and Satan.
So the most annoying misconception about belief in any kind of deity is that people associate the name of the deity with a rigid criteria of their own judgment and design, then assume that all people who associate with that deity behave in the way s that were assumed true. Their assumption reduces a deity to a mindless computer program, designed to follow one rigid set of rules without variance. That's just silly. Even as humans, we bend our own rules and use circumstances to justify our actions. It's insane to believe a deity cannot have the same flexibility. And to further the insanity, current law has developed something they call the "violating the spirit of the law". This basically means that a law can be written with a certain intent everyone knows about, but someone finds a loophole in the language and takes advantage of it. This has become "violating the spirit of the law". So a living deity has been denied any flexibility at all, but inanimate, written rigid laws have now been made flexible by a concept known as "spirit of the law". Essentially the government is saying that our laws are better than the ways of God. But if they really understood the ways of God (and most people don't ESPECIALLY fundamentalist Christians) and the freedom from guilt they allow, they wouldn't be saying that. Real satanists (not the murdering kind, but the nice ones) are closer to God than anyone. That's from an earthly perspective.
From a heavenly perspective, the current setup we have now would be a hell of a lot of fun. All we need is immortal bodies, and we could turn this place into a bottomless fun hole. Imagine all your favorite video games coming to life, and we run around and kill each other, then spring back to life in a new body, then pick up where we left off with more fun. That's heaven. It's on the way now. It's just a matter of time...a matter of slowing your thinking down so you realize what junk you think about. Get rid of the junk and you get a higher frame rate in reality. You "see more" because your brain is processing less useless information, like rigid belief systems and rules you must constantly follow at all times lest you go to hell forever. Get rid of that junk. It's no longer useful. Use circumstances to explain away anything you did which you thought was wrong.
The fact that Xians think we care about what think of us.
How they think that:
We sacrifice children and animals and any other variant of that,
That Satan is evil,
That we worship the devil,
That we in turn must be inhuman to be a Satanist,
That we only think of ourselves

it pisses me of that they think that satanists are all about evil and stuff like that but think they should learn about other religions before they talk sh/it about it I'm mean really no one sees me talking Shir/t about Muslims cause i dint rely know anything about their religion
