I am an atheist. I am not a satanist or a Leveyan satanist.

For some, Leveyan satanism may be their way to self-actualization. Thus, it is a good idea for its adherents.

However, It isn't for me. I find it a tad too selfish.

I used to be a LaVeyan Satanist, so yes. I do think it's a good idea. I mean, I have a few problems with the whole Neo Nazi crap trying to creep into it, and I take issue with some of the people in the religion (a bit too narcissistic for my taste) but I like the premise and philosophy of the religion overall. And the symbolic interpretation of Satan is good. Also, it's not as spiritual as I prefer, but then that's why I'm no longer LaVeyan. But I have no problem with the religion and have many LaVeyan Satanist friends.

Well I'm a Spiritual Satanist not a Laveyan one, I know lots of things about it anyway and I respect it. Laveyan Satanism is following nature's call, than worship ping false gods. Anton Levay made a good point in the Satanic Bible, that man should worship himself. This is definitely a good idea, its like "humanism", but with many useful rituals.

No, I do not think it is a good idea. The religion is just as bad if not worse than any other. It's hypocritical and judges others harshly, the only difference being that this religion will not likely lead to jihads or crusades since it is too individualistic. Just looking at the earthly rules is in fact chilling for this reason. If it truly promotes indulgence and sin, there are certainly a lot of "classic" sins it restricts (rape, stealing, etc.) One could even deduce wearing fur or leather is not allowed.
Some people cannot help being stupid and we all are inadvertently stupid. I don't want that to be a sin.
Basically it seems a lot of atheists complain that Christianity claims that Christians are so much better than everyone, yet this religion openly purports this.
I don't think this is a good religion probably because I think a good test of religion is to look at how the worst of society is treated by that religion. Though frankly the "good" religions are not as well practiced as they should be, but you were asking ideas not practices.

As a philosophy,I suppose LaVeyan Satanism is acceptable...but its merely an Ayn Rand Objectism ripoff.....As a religion...it is a sham because it is based in Atheism...........As a member of the 'spiritual community' it is a thief and an extortionist because it tells others "LaVeyan Satanism " is the only true Satanic path. AZLeV did NOT create Satanism,he merely encouraged Hedonism in dark rooms with candles and an altar.
