What's the problem with Satanism?

I am a Satanist, but very few people who know me, know that. So. Please explain to me why Satanism is problematic.
I am a Satanist, therefore I do not see it problematic. Others do. Also, please keep your answers serious.

Cristians say it's a problem cause they think Satanists worship Satan. I don't know enough about Satanism to know if that's true or not, but they think Satan is pure evil.

What makes you believe is problematic?

I don't really see a problem with it, but I also don't see LeVay as particularly insightful.

There is no problem with Satanism. It's another valid religious practice much like Christianity, Islam, Paganism, etc.

Those who don't recognize it as a valid belief system are more than likely convinced that their belief system is the "only right one", and that anything involving Satan is "bad, evil, and needs to be gotten rid of".

Judging by a few of the responses below, my second paragraph has been pr oven quite correct.

Only those that believe in Satan would find it Problematic. They believe that Satan is evil and worshiping him is evil as well.

I don' think that it is a problem. I have no problems with Satanists, I find that they are some of the nicest people out there.

it would be helpful for you to explain what you mean by being satanist. My experience with satanists is that they are merely anti-Christian.

Satan is the enemy of God. Anyone who is "for" Satan, is against God.

It's not problematic. In fact, I know a bunch of Satanists and they don't believe in Satan at all. Lil It's more about the stigma associated with your name.

Because it is a hell bound and foolish moron of a cult. Why would anyone in their right mind worship a defeated foe of God, who's end is going to be destroyed by God. Waste of good time.

of course if there are catholics and Christians and such they are going to look down on your choice of... beliefs (not all) but its up to you to decide to worship whatever.

Well, you both pray to a main character from the same work of fiction. The difference between Christianity and Satanism is that while Christ was a real person at one time, albeit not the son of G-d, Satan is a completely fictional character invented to keep Christians going to church and tithing to keep the church rich and strong.

I dint know ANYTHING about Satanism.

i think it's the whole 'Satan' thing...that's a Hecuba lot of baggage to be hauling around...i would say (personal opinion only) that most Christians would not be favorably disposed towards satanism or satanists...I've seen people post that satanists don't worship Satan...if that is true, then WHY call yourselves 'satanists?' not trying to offend, i just honestly don't understand that...it seems like an invitation to negative reaction

Well, the thing is..your worshiping Lucifer, who is the Anti-Christ. the first commandment claims that "Thou shall have no other Gods before me" and that there is only one God anyway. He won't approve of you worship ping Lucifer anyway, I'm not saying that your will burn in Hell or anything like (seeing to the fact that I don't believe Hell is for people). But still, that's demonic and instead of worshiping Satan you should worship God because He blesses you still. You alive, your healthy, and you have shelter, food, protection. He loves you always and He deserves your worship...Lucifer doesn't, Lucifer didn't wake you up this morning, God did, after all what did Lucifer do for you?

It is and so are all the cults around. Even if you call it a religion like christian or Islam it is still a cult and it is a problem.

I dint have a problem with it you believe what you want me personally Im christian but I always try to understand other peoples beliefs. Someone who isn't willing to accept other people simply because of what they believe is the worst kind of person. Those are the idiots screaming for Allah with a bomb strapped to their chest. Alright threes 3 diff rent kinds of satanism I know about.There Leviathan or whatever its called,it was founded in 1960 and uses Satan as a metaphor and it is a self centered religion I believe.Then threes devil worshipers which is the satanism that came after Christianity that's based on the Christians view of Satan.Finally theres the one I follow its called spiritual satanism, WHICH PRE DATES CHRISTIANITY!!To fully understand it read the joyofsatan.org site.Its satans goal to help us reach godhood.He created us through genetic engineering,now some of the gods didn't like this and rbeled agianst him.Theres a bit of info for you,also SATAN means ADVERSARY in hebrew.
