satanism is actually a branch of Christianity. it's the same dogma, the same world view, they just choose the other side.
it's mostly an American thing.
Satanists are just Christian Rebels, if ya wanna defect at least make your own religion, instead of reversing another belief system in order to P*** em off
Mr. X is quite wrong -- Most forms of Satanism have absolutely nothing to do with Christianity or their concept of the Devil.
The Temple of Sutekh (Set) is a Satanic tradition, but they follow Sutekh, the Jackal God of Evil in Egyptian mythology. They believe in neither Yahweh nor Satan.

I recently read a forum in Myspace where a bunch of Christians had taken this test and came out as "satanists". They were very angry about the results because they insisted that Jesus was their Savior.
Problem is, satanism, as discussed by the expert who designed this quiz... is the worship of self. In satanism, YOU are GOD. The concept comes from the book of Genesis where Satan tempts eve to taste of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil so that she will have her eyes opened and be like God. The first commandment is designed to reverse this curse.
Many other religions also concur that "there is a God and that it is not me". satanism, by comparison, answers to no one but self and places self high and above everyone else. It also means to "accuse" others - because "Satan" is the Hebrew word for "accuser".
its not a religion, its a cult. and I'm not being mean about it, i think it is really cool. Cults are not bad, it just depends on the number of people. I think that it is mostly a USA thing though,
My commander is a Satanist. He doesn't worship Satan (those would be devil worshipers). He is an Atheist in the sense that he doesn't believe in supernatural beings. I (as an Atheist) agree with a lot of the Satanic teachings, however, I dint know enough about the religion to commit myself to it.
I used to date someone who said they were a satanist. He told be that he believed in "the flesh". Basically, once we're dead, we're dead and we are buried in the ground as worm food.
