I used to be a Symbolic Satanist but it didn't work out for me. I decided to stay a totally non-believing atheist. There's different types of Satanism other than LaVey's. For example there's Sat/Tan Satanism which is somehow related to Taoism. I don't know much about it but it's not about demons or evil stuff. Satanism is SOpoosunderstood.

I think it is fundamentally flawed in its acceptance of objectives, as well as any elements that are rooted in a belief in supernatural forces or superstition. And I resent their appropriation of the upside-down pentagram, which was previously a symbol of Christianity, Freemasonry, and Pythagoreanism.

Next to Wicca, Satanism is one of the most misunderstood religions. They do not believe in god, or Satan as an inverse of god. To them, Satan is long before man dreamed up god. Like Wicca they are a respectable religion as they don't harm others, and aren't trying to put it in any body's face. Like most non-AbrahamICCeligions, they have respect, if not a relationship with nature and the environment. They're definitely welcome in my house.
