I was once a satanist. Which is just a fancy way of saying I was a self-absorbed, self-centered, utterly shameless humanist. Satanists don't even worship Satan. They worship themselves. Which of course is just as bad in the eyes of the Lord who tells us -

for the same reason that some worship God. they have faith in him that he will protect them and they probably want to end up in hell. why they would want to, I have no idea but all we can do is hope that they change their ideas about it all.
As was fore mentioned, most of them (Antone LaVey's (Sp) followers), are atheistic. The ones who practice occultICCatanism are either in it because they hate Christians, they lust for supernatural power, or they just think it will give them the image of a heel that they would want(meaning they want the recognition of being a Bad ***.). As I understand it, satanism is less about Satan and more about having the freedom to follow your own wants and desires.
I don't follow it, and I don't really worry about it, and you surely believe every other religion is going to Hell whether they believe in Satan, Muhammed, Bhudda or the Flying Spaghetti Monster, so does it matter if it's satanism?
Find out your facts first. This is there choice. This doesn't mean there bad people. People who try to bring in demons and so forth put themselves in danger. There is a line not to cross. Those with the knowledge know this.

Well, first of all, there is more than one form of satanism.
The most common, in my experience, is atheistic -- such as, but not limited to, LaVeyan satanism. This form of satanism doesn't even believe in God OR Satan -- it's, instead, the worship of the self; you are your own God.
However, you're speaking of theistic satanism. This is also known as Luciferian.
In these situations, I feel it's simply a matter of perception.
Say I like broccoli, and you don't. You like chicken, and I don't.
When we both eat chicken, we're both eating the same thing. However, we perceive it differently -- you like it, I do not. If I'm a vegetarian, then in my opinion, meat is evil. I prefer broccoli, a vegetable.
On the other hand, if we both eat broccoli, you may not like it, whereas I do. Both are different things, with different positive and negative traits.
But to me, broccoli is good, chicken is bad.
To you, chicken is good, but broccoli is bad.
See where I'm going with this? To theistic satanists, Satan is good. Satan will represent them best. Same as theistic believers in God -- God is good, and God will represent them best.
