Is the song "Mr. Crowley" about Aleister Crowley, the black pope, found in the satani
I was reading up on the satanism religion because I'm a very curious person, and I saw the name "Aleister Crowley", Being an Ozzy fan i began to wonder if the song was about him. anybody know?
Yeah Ozzy had or might still have some kind of fascination with the dude. You can tell alto of references in the lyrics are about him if you know some stuff about Crowley.
Yes. Im terrified of satanic things and demons. Once me and my friend were home alone at night, and we looked in the mirror in her room and saw that evil man in the mirror. I recognized him. We looked around and no one was there, but the reflection was still there. We told her mom and the exact same thing happened to her and her sister when they were kids! That was so f*ck scary. Im still scared at night if I think about it.
Ozzy probably knows who Aleister Crowley is, but Crowley founded the Occult, Satanism came more than 30,000 years before his time. And I have done much research into Crowley, not once have I heard him called 'the black pope'. Regardless, I don't think Ozzy looks to much upon Crowley. The song, though I don't know who it is by, but it seems you may be hinting that it was by Ozzy, could be talking about another person with the name Crowley, as Aleister, his two wives, and his son are not the only persons with that name.
It is attacking Crowley. The Black Pope, however is Anton LaVey, founder of LaVeyan Satanism and the Church of Satan. He actually has not much to do with satanism (Crowley I mean).
However, Crowley was NOT The Black Pope, nor had much to do with Satanism other than as an inspiration for Anton Szandor LaVey, who WAS the Black Pope.
Crowley started the religion of Thelema.
Doors of Perception- No, it isn't attacking him. It was inspired by Ozzy receiving a deck of Thoth Tarot cards, and is about his quick curiosity in the man. Perhaps you should research "True Claims," instead of made up ones.
Boing- No, he really wasn't, if you listen to the words, and know what Crowley said about himself.
Serf- No, Black Pope is a derogatory name for the head Jesuit. He is called that because despite his apparently high position, he still wears priest clothing.
Imacatholic- Yes, it does. Mr.LaVey was called such by his followers. I assume he was unaware of the derogatory title for the head Jesuit guy.
The term "Black Pope" has nothing to do with Satanism.
There have been three African popes (so far):
? St. Victor I (189-199) http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/15408a.htm
? St. Melchiades (311-314) http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/10318a.htm
? St. Gelasius (492-496) http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/06406a.htm
The Black Pope is also a light-hearted nickname for the Superior General of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits) who, like most priests, wears black. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superior_General_of_the_Society_of_Jesus
