Difference between a wiccan and satanism?

Just as the question asks cause satanists say to never get confused by the two.

Wiccans don't believe in Satan. Most Wiccans are theists who believe in a Higher Power in the form of God (masculine/father form) and Goddess (feminine/mother form).

Most Satanists are atheists. Those who are theists worship Satan.


Satanists believe man is ruled by his carnal nature and that it's healthy to give into it.

Wiccans believe man is a spiritual being and stress connection and balance between mind-body-spirit. This includes keeping the carnal nature in check.


Satanists generally advocate revenge (and do worse than was done to you).

Wiccans advocate protecting/defending yourself, but doing no harm.

They are two totally different religions. This is like asking the difference between a Hindu and a Jew.

Some big points: Wicca is polytheistic. Many Satanists are atheists (although not nearly all). Wicca generally holds greater concern for the wider universe, while Satanism tends to focus on how things will benefit the practitioner. Balance is a primary issue for Wiccans. Satanists not so much. Wiccans do not believe in Satan, thus they do not worship him. They do not even use him as a symbol, as atheist Satanists do.
