I am a religion major and know very much about Satanism but I do have a question.
I believe in the Grand Architect of the Universe (G.A.O.T.U.), 5 Egyptian gods, and the spirit Leviathan. (I am pagan). It is my beliefs that when the man made religion of Christianity was started the G.A.O.T.U. was perverted into Satan, the Egyptian gods into demons, and Leviathan into a demon as well so that people would fear them and not learn the truth. I think that ignorant and closed minded people do not deserve to know my beliefs so I wish to tell people that I am a Spiritual Satanist, that the G.A.O.T.U. is Satan and that the lesser gods are demons, only telling them otherwise if I know them well. Would calling myself a Spiritual Satanist in this case be dishonest? I mean I do believe in the gods that the Christians perverted into Satan...
When did this so-called perversion occur? The historical, archaeological and linguistic data that back up the validity of the Bible can't be refuted. It sounds to me that you have been listening to the whispers of the demonic realm which are out to destroy your life. Only the blood Jesus shed on the cross for our sins can free you from that oppression. Only the power of the Holy Spirit and God's angels can blast away the darkness that enshrouds you.
Admittedly, I'm not a religion major, although I do find the topic interesting.
As I understand it, the term "Spiritual Satanist" is an umbrella term for non-atheistic Satanism. Thus, it makes sense for you to refer to yourself in such a way, since your faith is inclusive of gods, spirits, demons, and suchlike.
So no, I'd not call you dishonest if you referred to yourself as a Spiritual Satanist.
You are correct Generatio (G.A.O.T.U.) the Creator by any name is the same fundamental force - PTAH of Ancient Egypt - BAAL of Syria and Persia - BRAHMA of the Indian Vedas - ZEUS of the Greeks - APOLLO of the Romans - YHVH of the Jews - JEHOVAH or the Christians - ALLAH of Islam, these all constitute the same original creative force, and all of them have been called SATAN by Christianity. The lesser gods in all of these cultures are to be under as principles of function in nature - they as well have been Miss-identified by the majority Christian sects as DEMONS.
It is important to understand that in all ancient societies that Priesthoods and Royalty were in possession of all knowledge and invention. The eventual construction of modern Satan, Demons, Witches, Warlocks, and anything constituting the dark arts in general society was originally a fictitious invention of the Church of Rome designed to demonize those who practiced chemistry, natural medicine, and astrology for the purpose of farming, by making them something to be terrorized of by a paranoid and uneducated society at large.
Knowledge was as protected in those days just as trade secretes and copyrights are protected by law today - which curiously enough find their roots the Inquisitions and witch trials.
In Early Christian times Satan and Demons were regarded as small irritating Nat like things - not the horned, fire breathing, sword wielding, deadly wraiths that inhabit the shadows of modern society waiting with BBQ sauce to devour good children.
My point here is to control knowledge is power. Satanism is not knowledge but a remnant of the inquisitions. It no doubt seems serious to those who get involved in what it has become, but it still is what it is.
If you are seeking understanding about why we are here, and what life means, continue in your search, and try everything that makes sense to you in that quest. As long as you are honest with yourself you will not make errors, and that is not for others to decide anyway.
Do not say you are what you know you are not, just remember you owe no explanations to other people concerning what you seek or believe.
I thought you were an agnostic? Anyway, ya that pretty much sums up spiritual Satanism. What you are saying definitely parallels other types of spiritual Satanism. Theistic or spiritual Satanism is a very broad term that I have seen applied to at least 5 separate religions. Nobody owns a trademark on the definition of spiritual Satanism but your form defiantly would count.
