Honestly, I've never talked to a non-theistic Satanist. I have spoken to a person who believes that they should worship Satan- that was strange.
Anyway, I don't know much about Satanism and I'd rather not learn solely because of the name of the religion. If someone wanted to share with me their beliefs, I'd be more than happy to hear them out though.
I'm more of a Luciferian myself if I were going to put a label on it. I can respect it though especially how their Cardinal Sin is stupidity since the "original sin" of Christianity is knowledge. Hathaway
Well, there is no Satanism that actually worships Satan per say so lets get to the heart of it. There are:
Satanists - Largely atheistic, although a few actually believe in some sort of dark force.
Spiritual or Theistic Satanists - Mostly take the options of the first path, but add an actual belief in the dark and demonic. They do not typically pray to Satan either...
Setians - They believe in a Prince of Darkness, but theirs is called Set. Some of the priesthood from the original Church of Satan created this organization and they basically believe that the Hebrew name Satan is a corruption of the name. They believe that Set actually exists, but do not pray to him.
Luciferians - They are a pagan revival of the religion of the Light Bringer, they don't necessarily believe Satan and Lucifer are the same thing even though you might. It's nearly a mix between modern Wicca and Satanism, and thus it's own thing because those concepts are usually mutually exclusive. They likely do pray to Lucifer as their God in most cases.
All of these paths basically believe in the idea that the humans natural state is healthy and not in sin, and your that evolution and perfection are your own responsibility. All of these beliefs support the concept of apotheosis which is literally self-deification. The atheistic Satanists tends to view this deification process figuratively (as they believe the mind creates god, ergo their mind makes them their god), whereas the others view it in terms of an actual result of spiritual, psychological, and metaphysical development. The theistic variants believe that by embodying that dark force that they will become closer to the source of their own being and thus be more like unto their true selves and more able to effect their own will into their environment instead of being influenced by others. At the core all of these beliefs are about breaking away from the herd and becoming a more useful individual.
Any of these paths have a critical rational core contrary to mainstream beliefs, and even the religions that have a direct experience of dark forces do not expect you to blindly believe in anything. This perhaps is the greatest difference between the left hand path and the right, and that is with the left you are the explorer and with the right you are a follower. Choose wisely! :P
Well I always thought it was for weirdos, until recently I was go ogling in and I found most of their 'Commandments' actually make more sense that the Christian ones. I am an atheist, but I find the Satanic beliefs very interesting, and at least they are straight forward with what they believe in and do not hide behind things like other religions. My favorite one is this one:

Due to centuries of misinformation, lies, and the systematic removal of knowledge, few people these days understand or even know what ?Satanism? really is all about.
Christianity has been at liberty to dictate without any opposition, what they CLAIM Satanism to be. In order to accomplish this, the truth had to be destroyed. The Catholic Church (the original Christian Church, from which all Christian sects have evolved), heinously tortured to death and mass-murdered millions of innocent men, women and children in what was known as "The Inquisition." Some children who were burnt to death in what were known as "witch houses" were as young as two years of age.?
Christians forever rant and rave concerning the "one world order" where all identities, cultures, personal privacy's, and liberties will be lost and humanity, after being systematically bar-coded, will be lumped into a one-world slave state. What they fail to see is how their own so-called "religion" and bible have always been and are the roots of and blueprint for this regime. Everything in the Judeo/Christian Bible has been stolen and corrupted from religions predating Judaism, Christianity, and Islam from hundreds to thousands of years. Through Judaism and its tool of Christianity, all of the original spiritual teachings from around the world, (which are CONCEPTS) have been stolen from, lumped together into the "one," and corrupted into Jewish archetypes and characters and fictitious places. This has given the Jewish people as a whole a false history, political power and "spiritual" authority to which they are not entitled.
The bible is a very powerful subliminal tool to control the masses. One can see this is a man-made work as there are endless contradictions. The bible has been systematically drummed into the minds of the populace from a very early age. A lie must always be enforced as opposed to the truth which can stand on its own. Because spiritual knowledge and occult power have been removed and kept in the hands of a "chosen" few, the unknowing populace has been helpless against it. The agenda here is to create a one-world slave state with the "chosen" few ruling at the top. The perpetrators of course blame Satan to create a necessary distraction, while they use occult power to accomplish their ends. They have a history of stealing from and blaming their enemies for everything they really are and do, while always holding themselves in the highest esteem and innocence.
The original religions now known as "Satanism" (by the way, "Satan" means "enemy" in Hebrew), were all based upon what is known as the "Magnum Opus" or Great Work. The one known as "Satan" is our True Creator God. He was prevented by the other Gods from finishing his work on humanity, that of the godhead. The godhead is physical and spiritual perfection. The serpent is seen everywhere in ancient relics and structures. The serpent was held sacred in all areas of the ancient world. Satan is the God Ea, aka ENKI, one of the first of the Nephilim to arrive on this planet and establish the first civilization. In Sumerian mythology, Enki's symbol was always the serpent.
The serpent represents the DNA, the life force and the kindling and has survived as the emblem of the American Medical Association and Veterinary medicine, where it is symbolic of life and healing. Only with the coming of Judeo/Christianity, has this sacred symbol been desecrated and blasphemed.
Nearly all of us are familiar with the term "fallen." This word has been used copiously by Christian clergy to refer to Satan and his Demons. In truth, "fallen" pertains to the kindling serpent (which has always been associated with our Creator God Satan), which has fallen in humanity as a whole and now lies dormant at the base of the spine. Because of this, humanity as a whole is on a very low level of spiritual understanding. Thoughtless abuses of children and animals, senseless wars, brutality and endless corruption are the results of the fallen serpent. The "Tree of Life" which was stolen from the ancient Pagan religions and found its way into the biblical book of Genesis, was seen in many parts of the ancient world in friezes upon walls of ancient temples and in some tombs.

well, OK it breaks down like this, AbrahamICCeligions have Islam, Judeism, and Catholism/Xianity, Satanism has Theistic Satanism, LaVeyn Satanism, and Spiritual Satanism.
The most com only known sect of Satanism is often portrayed in horror flicks or black metal. Although is captures the "evil" essence, this type of Satanism represents righteousness, intellect, and strength. These Satanists realize that we should not idolize serial killers, like the Judeo-Christian god. These people know that Hell is reserved for the free-thinking, studious minds of our age. To them, Heaven is saved for the ignorant ones, after all, ignorance is bliss.
LaVeyn Satanism was made famous in 1969, with the release of Anton LaVey's "The Satanic Bible." The Satanic Bible teaches an Atheistic brand of Satanism because Lucifer encourages us to hold our heads high and never bow. LaVeyn Satanists believe that Satan should not be worshipped, yet the idea of Him should be glorified. There may be different types of Satanism, but the heart of each version is freedom. One version of Satanism pre-dates the bible. The Name Lucifer was originally a name given to a roman god (who had no ties to Enki before the bible was created), While "Satanama" was a sacred mantra used in kundalini yoga. (Sa=infinity, Ta=truth, Na=death, and Ma=rebirth). Also in Sanskrit the word "Satan" means "Truth." It's also interesting to note that the most ancient pentagram (1 point down 2 points up) found dates back to 300 BC, it was found in Ancient Sumeria (The home of Enki). These Satanists realize that all of the Demons date back to the Ancient Sumerian Gods. That being said, These Satanists contribue the biblical "adversary" to Enki ( as Enki and Satan have much in common; being represented by a Goat or a Snake ect ect.) These Satanists believe that the bible has labeled Satan and everthing of Satan as "evil" in an attempt to rid the world of all true spirituality and turn the masses into brainless slaves, so a New World Order will be effortless. This 'Spirited' Satanist believes that Heaven and Hell and mere allegorys for the Crown and Base Chakras. Knowing that Heaven and Hell lay inside the human soul, this leaves mankind as God.
Please forgive me if this is too bold, but the type of Satanism I believe has lead some to associate the name Satan with "bad" or whatever makes them not want to join the religion because of the name, was Anton LaVey Satanism which, as far as I know, not one member of JoS practices. As such, they do not believe Satan is an actual entity as we do. Nearly every Satanist I know, as well as myself, have had the same dream upon completing their dedication rituals and in these dreams Satan comes to us and he is so beautiful that be weep at the sight of his beauty and he is so kind and loving that we wonder how the world could survive without him and yet we do NOT tell other people their religions are wrong. because everyone has their own truth and we respect that.
However, Satanists do not actively practice evil or any variation of the sort. Also, as far as I know, the only true church of Satan was founded by Anton LaVey, himself or someone who he deemed to have the right to found it. That form of Satanism may be a way of life, but it is more a philosophy than a religion in my opinion, however I respect everyone right to disagree with me and I apologize once more if my words were too bold.
In any case, Satanism is not necessarily about "worshiping" Satan as such, but about believing that Satanism is true and in it lies truth and Satan is there to help enlighten us, however, some do worship him. Though the difference is that Satan does not force people to worship him as Christians believe their god does. if a god's love in unconditional...there should be no conditions. not having a choice but to be forced to worship...sounds a bit like a condition to me. However, from what I have noticed, most satanists simply love Satan as if he were their very own father of blood and flesh though they have a connection to him that feels unlike any other connection one could obtain on earth and the truest wonder is how it is completely platonic. These feelings are what I believe joins us to Satan and makes us want to live the way we do.
There is nothing bad or evil about Satanism. However, each and every person is entitled to their own beliefs. We simply ask that you not insult our religion here, as we do not insult others. There is also a difference between saying why we believe what we believe rather than another religion and actually insulting it, just as Christianity and other religions tell of their opposing religions' flaws within their churches.
