True Satanism isn't devil worship. It's more self-worship, or worship of the ego. Thus, true Satanism is one step short of Agnosticism, and two steps short of Atheism.
If it works for you and you don't harm anyone or anything, then do what you will.
well speaking as a man i can say my view is a good one there isn't much that beats skipping round a graveyard naked with the wife and sacrificing a cat over her naked body , cant beat it , dint knock it till you have tried it that's what i say .
I don't know about society, but i think satanism isn't a real threat since a) Satan is not real and 2) satanism is vastly rare. the real threats, in my opinion, are $Scientology and fundamental Christianity.
Many people think that satanism has to do with worshiping the devil even though that isn't the case. The idea of worshiping the devil scares people. Though it has the word Satan in it, satanism is like another form of atheism at least from my knowledge of it.
Due to Christian propaganda, Satanism is usually viewed as a type of gang-orientated sad-narcissistic cult. It's actually a Christian denomination that believes in loving oneself and nature, and actually has a much better code of morality than other christian denominations, and followers are typically quite peaceful and happy.
I don't know about society especially since these days society cant agree on anything.
My personal views are that it is stupid. there is no chance of it being real simply because the creator of the religion made it simply out of protest and for attention. I am not saying that the only way a religion can be real is that it is thousands of years old and its only prophets were from way back when. But I am saying that there should at least be some sort of spiritual claim. not just I'm a hippie and want attention everyone is christian so I'll do the opposite. no I'm sorry that's dumb. I apologize if I offend anyone or if I a victim of false information, but to my knowledge there is no spiritual claim behind satanism therefore it is not a proper religion but more of a way of life. One that I think is stupid.
Most people view Satanism negatively, but that's pretty easy to figure out. If someone selects the most evil character out of the storybook of religion and chooses to idolize or worship that figure, what do you suppose most people will think of that? It certainly implies a very unusual and probably dysfunctional personality. Most people don't idolize the evil villain.
devil worship and animal sacrifice are cool, but American "satanists" dint even believe in the devil, it was invented in the 60's and followed by people who got bored with playing dungeons and dragons
Those who believe in good believes in God. Those who believe in evil believes in Satan. God contains both the God and the Satan. But the path followed by evil is not conducive to the existence of life and death and continuity of the cosmos and therefore is against the will of the God and punishable on its own merits. God is not coming down to punish you, the punishments are the sufferings the souls and the body has to undergo on adoption of the path. It is the will of the individual souls and not the Will of the God. God do not forbid anyone choosing any path he likes, as the free will vests with each soul. God differentiates into microcosmic souls which are little Gods. To become the God in God or to become the Satan in God is an individual Will. No one stops you go ahead and gain the sufferings attached to it. Society is made by human beings. How it views Satan or its followers is not going to change the fundamental truth. The society views it with fear because society follows a materialist path which is more ore less satanic path. A society following true spiritual believes have to fear none including God. God is merciful and compassionate.
Do satanists truly believe there is a heaven and hell? If you have a choice between spending all of eternity on a cushy, sunny cloud or a dark, fiery pit, why in the world would you choose the latter? I think it's even more a waste of a life than traditional religion just for that fact, but I'll admit I don't know much about it.
The label? Mostly we hate it. The actual practice ? (assuming that satanism simply means "do what you're going to do, b/c deep down you run on instinct programs and semi-use full illusions") It's humanity's most popular religion.
Personally, I just see them as human beings who live their lives based on their nature and ego. I understand why they believe what they believe, and I don't really see them in a negative light. But they are misunderstood by many, and the majority of society thinks that they live their lives are based on evil and devil worship.
As with many world views and religions, the answer to this question varies by person. However, you fail to specify which type of Satanism you are talking about.
There are several types of Satanism, feel free to read about them yourself:
LeVeyan Satanism
Deistic Satanism
Casual Satanism
Other variations on Satanism
An "enemy" of Satan (e.g. Any non-satanist who questions a Satanist's beliefs) will, more than likely, denounce all forms of Satanism as occult, an "abomination". However, any supporter of that specific type of Satanism will wholeheartedly support it, though they may denounce another type as "false".
Our interpretation of the validity of Satanism fully depends on our surroundings, and our knowledge and experience with this "religion", as it were. One may only understand and believe by experience.
