Default Why do people choose satanism?

As a Christian, I wonder why anyone would choose to be a satanist. To me it is evil b/c Satan is real, a fallen angel who wants to destroy all of God's children. Yet people seem to think it's not the road to self-destruction. Any thoughts?

Because Christianity is putrid and morally repulsive.

The people that do probably don't feel about him the way you do. Your thoughts on Satan are from a book. Maybe they read a different book.

So, do you check under your bed each night? I've heard "Satan" hides under there and attacks good Christians at night!

Because they believe differently than you. Many Satanist don't really "believe" in or worship Satan. Satan is more of a symbol for our more basic instincts.

For the same reason people choose religion, it gives them something in their lives.

well satanism isn't actually anything to do with SATAN its not even spiritual, its mu=is understood i think, there is no blood sacrifices, no murder, no killing. yet thousand have been killed in the name of god. satanism is more about loving yourself, taking the best you can get and living life to the full while you have it. its not negative and doesn't harm anyone

50%=EM kids rebelling against parents.
40%=other kinds of people rebelling against their parents
10% = unemployed adults living in mom and dad's basement hoping the devil will make a pretty girl look past their enormous guts and neck beards.

You don't choose Satanism...Satanism chooses you. Most Satanists, when looking into the religion, are pleasantly surprised to find out they have been living by it's principals their whole lives.

Most people of one faith wonder why others choose different faiths. Also not all Satanists are the same. Many do not believe in G-d at all and take a somewhat hedonistic view of things.

Theistic satanism is quite rare.

As a Jew, evangelical Christianity baffles me a bit. But I still believe it is a person's right to believe as they choose.

for the same reason people choose Christianity It is something to believe in, and if you ever bothered to look further into the religion. Most of them don't believe in a god or a devil but see themselves as gods. Still wonder how they got labeled satanists. the Luciferianism worship Satan and since Lucifer does mean light bringer see him as the creator, and they see him as a kind and loving god. Not evil as he has been labeled by Christians.

While I am non religious I still like to study them all.

Oh side note Satanist do not practice blood sacrifice, they are believe if you can't use your own blood then you are not worthy to use the blood of another.

Probably most Satanists do not believe in a literal Satan.

I became a theistic or Spiritual Satanist because it finally sunk in who was the Good Guy, and who was the Bad Guy.

But the Satan I and most others believe in bears no resemblance to the Xian Satan.

As far as destroying all of 'gods' children goes, no.
For the most part, we see the 3 main religions, based on the Jews, as being horrifyingly evil in their actions, and is fit for destruction. It's the religions that should be destroyed, not the people that practice them. I don't blame the religious beliefs, but I do blame their actions, They have turned this planet into a hellhole and it needs to stop.

If you want to learn about satanism, then research it for yourself. Don't depend on what others say about it. Do your own homework.
