Also, are YOU a Scientology's and why?
AlNytRydr - Lil.
HoOligan - I saw that South Park episode, too. It was hilarious! Did you know Tom Cruise tried to have it banned (maybe he did get it banned in some places???? not sure) because they kept joking about him being "in the closet"? Lil
dark SPY - LMAO
theta always - I really AM interested and didn't mean to dis anyone. Just because I found some of the comments funny doesn't mean I enjoy ridicule. Okay, maybe I do enjoy ridicule, but it doesn't mean I'm prejudiced or anything. If people had been making fun of me in a clever way I would've laughed at that too. LMAO.
Again, I'd really like to know more about it. I wouldn't have posted this question otherwise. I really didn't mean to offend anyone. Why are people so sensitive?
theta always, I looked at your Q&A page and found your answer to a similar question. So you inadvertently gave me the answer anyway. Thanks.
BTW, does Scientology also teach you to stop making baseless assumptions about people before you have all the facts? Because if it does, I think you missed that lesson.
I think it, along with most other religions, is proof that most people are capable of having faith in whatever the hell they want, with complete disregard to logic and reason.
It is a cult that brainwashes members. Any true religion wouldn't make members pay to give them council ling or share their beliefs. They also employ a "do whatever it takes" aggressive defense policy. They have been known to sue the crap out of anyone who prints or says anything negative about Scientology just to ruin them financially or emotionally. They harass their friends, family, etc. to no end. L. Ron Hubbard was a known drug abuser, womanizer, etc. He also once said that the best way to get rich was to create your own religion.
i had not given it much thought until recently. I decided to read a summary of its beliefs from wiped.DOA am pretty open-minded, and usually think that most religions make sense (even if they have to be taken metaphorically to do so). But scientology was one of the few exceptions where the more i read about it, the crazier it seemed. If there are any scientologists on here, i would like to hear what you believe. I wouldn't want to make a judgment without hearing the opinions of followers of the religion, but to be honest, what i have read so far hasn't exactly convinced me to convert.
Scientology is an insanely vicious, unethical and brainwashing cult, which luckily will have its downfall because of the Internet. Scientologists can't do anything unless it's outlined in a "tech" by L. Ron Hubbard himself, who died in the 1980's. Therefore, they have no real strategy regarding information about them on the Internet (except their time-honored 'sue-people-until-they-shut-up' method). So, websites like Operation Clambake are still running, telling the truth about Scientology to anyone curious to know. And since the secrets of Scientology are so lame and stupid (Xenu? Body Thetans? Hydrogen Bombs?) this will ultimately expose the cult for what it is.
Yeah sure, of course I believe that Xenu, a galactic ruler who, 75 million years ago, brought billions of people to Earth, stacked them around volcanoes and blew them up with hydrogen bombs.
Pfft.
Although, it's probably more believable that what the Christians think.
I am not a Scientologist, and only know that Julia Roberts and Tom Cruise are. I am interested knowing at least a bit about all religions, but this one has just come up right now.
To me, a religion based on science would be weird, no offense if you are a Scientology's. I don't know much about it, so therefore I can't give an in-depth answer. The word itself indicates that it is a study of science, that to me someone who studies science is a scientist. I can't understand why anyone would make a religion out of studying science. A passion maybe, or a career, but not a religion. I prefer to believe in the God who created science, not the science who created god. No, I'm not a Scientology's, don't understand why anyone would become one. To me it doesn't make sense.
We blast Scientology for being "odd" but we catholics believe that a "woman got pregnant without having sex" and that a "man parted the Red Sea". Religion is what makes you believe in a higher being. Whose place is it to judge right or wrong?
