Sorry.... I do... but to each their own. I just don't want this classified as "religion"

Scientology is the study and handling of the spirit in relationship to itself, others and all of life. The Scientology religion comprises a body of knowledge extending from certain fundamental truths. Prime among these:

Man is an immortal, spiritual being. His experience extends well beyond a single lifetime. His capabilities are unlimited, even if not presently realized ? and those capabilities can be realized. He is able to not only solve his own problems, accomplish his goals and gain lasting happiness, but also achieve new, higher states of awareness and ability.

In Scientology no one is asked to accept anything as belief or on faith. That which is true for you is what you have observed to be true. An individual discovers for himself that Scientology works by personally applying its principles and observing or experiencing results.

Through Scientology, people all over the world are achieving the long-sought goal of true spiritual release and freedom.

I dislike this religion because of many things. The people my dad works with are all cytologists. The church's money collector comes by ever payday to take part of their wages. Once the secretary was completely broke, only had $10 for gas money, and they took that. Why people continue giving all their money to them is unfathomable to me. Besides, the guy who formed the church (L. Ron Hubbard) was a science fiction writer for goodness sakes...As always, to each their own, but I certainly don't understand it.

Ecclesiastes 1:13-17

13 I devoted myself to study and to explore by wisdom all that is done under heaven. What a heavy burden God has laid on men! 14 I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

15 What is twisted cannot be straightened;
what is lacking cannot be counted.

16 I thought to myself, "Look, I have grown and increased in wisdom more than anyone who has ruled over Jerusalem before me; I have experienced much of wisdom and knowledge." 17 Then I applied myself to the understanding of wisdom, and also of madness and folly, but I learned that this, too, is a chasing after the wind.

WHEN U want to know as much as God, U either end up crazy or end up in an asylum.

Salomon after all the pain of knowing so much, ended up saying the above verses.

Scientology is weird to us Christians.

L. Ron Hubbard the science fiction writer, was sitting at a bar with Robert A. Heinlein and bet him that he could make millions of dollars by starting a religion, Scientology believes that star trek like characters brain washed all of us and we must be deprogram ed by paying a lot of money to become a Scientology's. His son L. Ron Jr. has publicly denounced his farther, along with his first two wives, and his gay son Quentin was found dead on October 28, 1978 under suspicious circumstances. L.Ron Hubbard married Sara Northrup pregnant with Jack Parsons child, while still married to Margaret "Polly" Grubb with whom he fathered children. L. Ron Jr. and Katherine May, Quentin was the child of Mary Sue Whipp. L. Ron Hubbard died of a Vistaril overdose January 24, 1986.

No I don't think it is weird.
But then again I actually know exactly what it is and what it can do for others.
As opposed to almost everyone else who answered your question.
Which by the way ( your question), is pretty useless, cos you already obviously have your own opinion and are really just soliciting agreement for yourself.
Not exactly what this forum is really about, but Hey, it's a free country.
And we Scientologists are very grateful for that fact.
However judging by some of the "opinions" expressed here and in other places on this forum even preserving a free country seems to be at risk, if some of you had your way.
I wonder, do you spend any time doing something worthwhile ?
I sure hope so.
Or is your life just one long dis on what other people are doing?
