Default which is dumbest - catholicism, mormonism, or scientology?

i know this question is rude, but i knew I'd get more answers this way.

in my opinion, Scientology is the dumbest, hands down. then the church of later-day saints with their utterly ridiculous and unbelievable book of Mormon. Catholicism brings up the rear because, although they do have a prodigious amount of contradictory rules, traditions, and useless rituals, they seem to have the most level heads of the bunch. put your answer in order from most to least.

what I'm really interested in are your takes on these religions are so if you feel the need to elaborate, please do. i just like to push some buttons every time and again

i expect some angry answers and i find them to be very stimulating so bring 'em if ya got 'em, but don't if you're not sincere. just don't forget to actually answer the question. of course, that is assuming that i get any answers at all
I'd really like to see what a catholic, Mormon, or Scientology's has to say, but I'm guess I'm asking for a little too much
HA HA HA HA HA!!! theta always: wow, man, you just, like, totally expanded my mind - NOT!! he just said scientology is not a religion in the sense that it does not have any dogma and requires no faith. that's a little weird considering that you faith oriented beliefs and rituals such as: your retarded little creation story (complete with aliens and evil spirits), the silent birth ritual, and the fact that you even believe in such nebulous and unprovable entities as souls speaks volumes to your faith and belief structure as a practicing scientologist. in fact, what you've boiled scientology down to, as an "applied religious philosophy", is a cheap form of psychotherapy which oddly enough, is something you scientologist don't believe in. or is that just tom cruise asserting his individual beliefs that scientologist are supposedly afforded? the only applied religious philospy i know of is buddhism wherein most followers have only live within accordance of it's basic ideals and
continued
is faith based (or at least that is my understanding from what a buddhist associate of mine told me).

then again, i could be wrong about all of this. i am an agnostic-atheist (that means that i accept that there may or may not be a god, but i'm leaning towards the side of complete skeptism) and i cannot, nor anyone else in the world, say that anyone is really wrong. but in this case, SCIENTOLOGY IS STUPID!!!
if you wish to know more about scientology, check out xenu.net
spudmustang: i am one of those who would say that the bible is "ridiculous and unbelievable" (hey, i quoted you quoting myself! oohh, multiple mirror effect). well, most of it any way. isn't weird how LDS and LSD are so similar?

juliainmiami: i literally don't know where to start with the problems of catholicism and i'm far to lazy to sit at the computer all day to type a whole diatribe dismantling your entire religion. it took enough out of me just to do that scientology one. i know you answered first, but divert my attention to thetaalways' answer because of the effort he gave in presenting his arguement. it would have been rude to ignore it.

drshorty: then i'd like to know how you feel about the other religions. you obviously like your's, otherwise you wouldn't practice it.

I'd have to agree with you. Have you read Scientology's creation myth? AND, it was started by a hack science fiction writer!

Mormonism is a slightly more believable religion, but not by much...

Catholicism, out of the three, is the most respectable...or at least the oldest

Hands down Scientology.
It's a religion that preaches aliens responsible for the creation of man.
Odd ball shit if you ask me.

Scientology, then Mormonism, then Catholicism.
Scientology, because...it's Scientology.
Mormonism, because they believe that God was once a human and that humans can become gods.
Catholicism because they don't follow the Bible at all and have given Christianity a bad name. The Crusades, their opposition to the Scientific Revolution, etc.

Hopefully, no one else is offended by this. The practitioners aren't dumb. The religions are.

By the way, I like the fact that you used Tousen Kaname as your avatar. His Ban Kai is pretty interesting.

Just thinking about the texts, the books they read on the afterlife: they're all quite fantastic. Scientology seems the most fantastic. Tho Mormonism seems to have a very vivid Apocolyptic vision, something about an Archangel sounding his horn and all the disbelievers turning to maggots. Catholicism~~ HM is it really like Dante's Inferno? maybe I'll be in one of the nicer sections of hell. Bahama

Your opinion is not really worth getting angry about so forgive me if I don't "stimulate" with an angry response.
Opinions may or may not be based on any facts. And even if they are they are still opinions.
It's a bit sad that your only source of entertainment seems to be trying to push other peoples buttons, but that is just my opinion of you. There may be other facts about you that I am not aware of. Or they may not.
Since your opinion of Scientology is not based on any facts I may as well take this opportunity to post some.

Scientology is an applied religious philosophy. When I say "applied" I mean you actually use it in your life to change or improve existing conditions. This is different from a religious practice. All religions if you learn about them have a basic philosophy, but they also have certain dogma, rituals and observances, and a certain faith or belief is required. There is nothing wrong with this, but Scientology is not that kind of religion. It does not intrude on any ones faiths of beliefs particularly in the area of God , the Supreme Being, or the Infinite. This area is left totally up to the individual, which is why you can be a practicing Jew or Atheist, for example and still use and apply the principles of Scientology in your life. It does not conflict. If anything it will enhance your understanding of your chosen religious practice.
And it is only true for you according to your own observation and experience with it.
It is a non denominational religion . The dictionary definition that applies:
Religion: The spiritual or emotional attitude of one who recognizes the existence of superhuman power or powers.

The most basic principle of Scientology is that YOU are your own immortal soul, that this is not a "thing" you HAVE but what YOU actually are.
The whole purpose of Scientology is to increase an individuals understanding and awareness of himself. And thereby his native abilities .
When you do this the sphere and zone of his positive influence increases and moves outward into his life, his family ,his friends, his groups and mankind which he is part of.

How this result is achieved is the "technology" of Scientology, which was developed by L.Ron Hubbard after his extensive research and the discoveries he made, about the human spirit.
He completed his research before his death in 1986 and left all of his results and copyrights
to the Church of Scientology along with most of his considerable estate., when he died.

He published a book in 1951 to communicate the basic principles he discovered called: " Scientology The Fundementals of Thought"

Yep, there are currently over 8 million Scientologists in more that 150 countries world wide. However we are a new religion, only 55 years old so you will have to give us a bit more time as we just got started.

The true story of Scientology as a religion goes like this:
1. A philosopher develop es a philosophy about life and death.
2. People find it interesting.
3. People find it works.
4. People pass it along to others.
5. It grows.

The dumbest is someone who chooses to reject God's mercy and they send themselves to hell rather than serve God in heaven.

The way I see it, Ultimately, They are part of the Almighty's plan, used to open the eyes of those who seek, sure, they provide all with different hurdles but who are we to question his ways.
I was born into religion..., left..., went back..., left again, who knows, It might be his will that I return.
but I wont take an others interpretation for my own.
All Glory to the Almighty !
Peace

As a Mormon I would have to say the dumbest people are those who dedicate their time to belittling another people's religious beliefs. I really don't care that you feel the Book of Mormon is "ridiculous and unbelievable." Some people would say that the Bible is ridiculous and unbelievable. I certainly don't feel that way, but each person is entitled to their opinion.
I don't mind people who are don't share my beliefs. I have a lot of friends who are not LDS, and we often discuss religion. But it's always with respect, with our focus being to learn from one another, not to attack or ridicule another person's faith. If your aim is to offend people, this is the way to do it. But if you actually want to learn something, I would use a different method.

Yeah, I have to agree with the 2ND answer. Apples, oranges and grapes may be different fruits, but they're in the same damn bowl! I'm agnostic so I'm skeptical of all religion. I find a lot of things wrong with all 3 of the religions you mentioned, but I won't go into it. People are probably already pissed off enough by this question.

I would actually say that none of these are dumb*. They were conceived by very intelligent people, who have each taken pieces or parts of the bible and either twisted them, or added science fiction to it. They have blinded many to the truths presented in the bible.

People have a desire to find god, who he is. These cults and semi-cults have latched on to that intrinsic desire and subverted it for some for of economic, political or power gain. I would say that the Catholic church retains the most truth of the three, in that the Catholic version of the bible still contains the truth, if one knows to seek for it. But with the focus on the Virgin Mary, the sacraments and other works, the Church takes the focus of many of the basic truths of God.

Mormonism and Scientology both completely lack the core truths of God, hijacking the name of Jesus for their own material gain.

* they contain many ludicrous things, but the deception and persuasion used to get people to believe them is brilliant

Bottom line of True Religion: "whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved"

I do not believe in these religions but I respect other peoples beliefs and am offended by self righteous religious hatemongers condemning me and everyone else to hell for breaking their taboo of questioning dogma or using logic and rejecting dogma
your question that promotes intolerance without provocation, reminds me of this closed minded behavior ,only from the other side of the fence,
stupid is ,as stupid does

Intolerance and biased prejudice for the religious beliefs of other people are not particularly positive attributes, but the good news is that you could do some good and you could actually clear out that junk from your life via the rather simple application of Dianetics.

Just by reading the book, you'd reduce some ignorance from your life ... which would probably be a good thing, and possibly ... (no personal offense intended) ... more than a bit overdue. But it would be in doing Dianetics, actually applying these remarkable techniques to life that would astonish you more than slightly.

It may also help you in making the transition from a smart ass punk to a wise and capable man and that would be a nice improvement and good for civilization too.

Good luck with that.

Grin.
