Default Can anyone please tell me aboot 'Scientology'?

What is this Scientology? Why does Tom Cruise get so cheesed off when people talk smack Abbot it? What are some of the beliefs of Scientologists? I have the book Dianetics at my gramme's house, but I never read it...only glanced at first page or what not.

It's a made up religion, by L Ron Hubbard, on a bet to his pal Issac Asimov. (Both well known sci-fie writers) He was trying to prove how gullible and stupid we humans are, so he put together a bunch of new-age psycho Babel, a ton of silly "rules" to follow (like silent birth, never be living that anyone could actually do that). Anyhow, you ended up with a bunch of Actors/Celebrities leading the charge in this (You are God too) type of religion. I suppose worse that them believing it, are the Moran's who follow them...Anyhow. Hubbard proved his point.

Its a stupid ploy to take advantage of people's insecurities and trust in science. They are down the street right now, giving "stress tests," but the fact that they are sticking probes in people is causing their stress. They ask you intimate questions while they stare screen waiting for the needle to move.

The idea behind Scientology is basic PSHYCOLOGY! it not a fuck-Inga religion. they say that you have emotions attacked to certain stimuli. that is behaviorism which is the most basic physiology and doesn't even deal with our irrational fears.

L. Ron Hubbard the science fiction writer, was sitting at a bar with Robert A. Heinlein and bet him that he could make millions of dollars by starting a religion, Scientology believes that star trek like characters brain washed all of us and we must be deprogram ed by paying a lot of money to become a Scientology's. His son L. Ron Jr. has publicly denounced his farther, along with his first two wives, and his gay son Quentin was found dead on October 28, 1978 under suspicious circumstances. L.Ron Hubbard married Sara Northrup pregnant with Jack Parsons child, while still married to Margaret "Polly" Grubb with whom he fathered children. L. Ron Jr. and Katherine May, Quentin was the child of Mary Sue Whipp. L. Ron Hubbard died of a Vistaril overdose January 24, 1986.

A "Church" only concerned about money, power, and drugs. In a 1983 interview, L. Ron, Jr. said "according to him and my mother" he was the result of a failed abortion and recalls at six years old seeing his father performing an abortion on his mother with a coat hanger. In the same interview, he said "Scientology is a power-and-money-and-intelligence-gathering game" and described his father as "only interested in money, sex, booze, and drugs".

A Church for the "super-rich" and the work of the devil, if you ask me.

I get pretty cheesed off myself reading all the baloney that gets spewed forth on this forum about Scientology.
Just between us two I'm also a bit weary answering the same questions about it.
I must have answered over 100 or more in the last few weeks, trying to put some factual information out, between all the utter none sense.
Seems like some folks just use this forum as a garbage dump, instead of sharing any actual, factual knowledge the might have about a subject.
Having said all that (and sorry for dumping on you , please don't take it personally)
Scientology is an applied religious philosophy. When I say "applied" I mean you actually use it in your life to change or improve existing conditions. This is different from a religious practice. All religions if you learn about them have a basic philosophy, but they also have certain dogma, rituals and observances, and a certain faith or belief is required. There is nothing wrong with this, but Scientology is not that kind of religion. It does not intrude on any ones faiths of beliefs particularly in the area of God , the Supreme Being, or the Infinite. This area is left totally up to the individual, which is why you can be a practicing Jew for example and still use and apply the principles of Scientology in your life. It does not conflict. If anything it will enhance your understanding of your chosen religious practice.
And it is only true for you according to your own observation and experience with it.

The most basic principle of Scientology is that YOU are your own immortal soul, that this is not a "thing" you HAVE but what YOU actually are.
The whole purpose of Scientology is to increase an individuals understanding and awareness of himself. And thereby his native abilities .
When you do this the spree and zone of his positive influence increases and moves outward into his life, his family ,his friends, his groups and mankind which he is part of.

How this result is achieved is the "technology" of Scientology, which was developed by L.Ron Hubbard after his extensive research and the discoveries he made, about the human spirit.

He published a book in 1951 to communicate the basic principles he discovered called: " Scientology The Fundementals of Thought"
This is a MUCH easier read than Dianetics, (only about 100 pages instead of over 500) Dianetics does not explain Scientology since it preceded it and was first published in 1950.

Now I know there have been some complaints that I keep telling people to read this book. I understand that some people just don't read books, or find reading difficult, but honestly the explanation and introduction to the subject is fully contained in this book. And you can apply it's principles right away, for yourself.
That way you can actually experience what it is for yourself. Then maybe you can help me to answer these questions !@!!*!!
Because then you will KNOW.
