Scientology. Whats your thoughts on the religion.?
I'm not a believer in any real fate. I do believe in an entity almost like the 'force' in star wars. Im born a christian but I dint accept their version mainly because it's so fundamentally flawed it's laughable. I have heard that L. Ron Hubbard was quoted as saying 'If you want to become rich. Start a religion!'. I think Scientology is actually quite dangerous and much like other religions it preys on peoples weaknesses and need to belong to something! What do you guys think???
Don't know alto about it.. I have read a few things because of the weird things we have been told on TV. (tom cruise Etc).
From what i have read only on web sites.. which are not always the most informative of places. I would say i wouldn't be interested in it as a religion. It is very male dominated.
And I'm quiet happy with my own religion.
Thanks
To Don J
That was a very informative post.. Thanks.
They seem to just put a new spin on what is out there. You can use some mad alien for the devil or AC and aliens as demons etc.
Also whatever level it is called it seems to copy mystic texts similar to the cabala. I have read the secret bit once a while ago, only given to top scientists. I guess Tom Cruz hence is super powers.
I am interested in learning about Scientology before I give any opinions about it. . .
I do believe, like you, that there is an entity that must have created us, and that the biblical god is not an accurate source of what this entity is.
I actually am leaning toward this belief: That religion was created to keep people in order (like laws). The geniuses at the time needed something bigger and better than them, that could not be pr oven, to scare the people in the towns/villages to abide by the 'laws' of the town. What better way than to create a "God" that is all-seeing and all-knowing that could NEVER BE PROVEN?
I kind of agree with you. I think it is as flawed as most other religions although I have a friend who had something to do with Scientology for a while(not specifically believing in it, it just happened that he was doing something at a "Church of Scientology", and some of the things he LentNTrom it were very useful to him but as soon as he felt like people were getting all "this is what we think and we expect you to be the same", he left.
Its a load of cobblers. Yes original life may possibly have been spawned from bacteria on meteorites/ comets etc.but an alien coming down and creating us?
Has any one realized that if one species of the dinosaurs had been intelligent and had been able to go into space, (thus missing out on the mass destruction caused by the large meteorite strike) evolution would have produced almost an exact copy of all those little green men seen by the UFO people. I once saw a lecture where dinosaurs were morphed to show how they might have evolved if they hadn't been wiped out and the scientists didn't spot the similarity until pointed out to them. Makes you think at times.
I don't know enough about Scientology to make a comment about it as a religion. I think most people usually know a wee bit about each religion and this is when mistakes are made, people from a faith spend their whole lives learning about it and a lot of people take a few rules from it and think they know everything about it. The four main religions in the world all say we should respect each others religions and I think people in general should be more accepting of other peoples views. Everyone has the right to an opinion, whether or not you agree with it. People should not be killed just because one person thinks their religion is true and another person is wrong.
My viewpoints come from ex-Scientologist friends of mine, just to let you know. I am not (and have never been) a member of their church.
Scientology relies on brain-washing techniques during with their members are mentally abused and all sense of reality is shaken and in this state, they are fed the cytologistsSslivers on what is right or wrong, completely contradictory to everything that they've understood previously.
When an individual decides to leave the religion, they are put on a list of, basically, enemies of the church who need to be brought down. I want to say that they are la bled something like "oppressive the tans" but I could be wrong about that one. At one point, the religion condoned murder. They still do, just not as blatantly as they once did.
Google "Operation Clambake" and you will be able to find some fascinating (albeit disturbing) information about the workings of the Church of Scientology written by a former Scientologist. There are a ton of unbelievable things on there, but I've been assured by my friends that it's all very true.
So personally, I can't say I'm at all in favor of the religion, nor do I consider them a religion at all. L. Ron Hubbard was doing drugs big time during the years when he created Scientology and he was a sci-fie writer. That says it all as far as I'm concerned.
The religion is a situation whereby man plea his kindness. It s a bridge which link man's spiritual with his creator. The spiritual environments should have a place to avail, that is a religion. It prepare the man's ability of thinking the God's creation and the disciplinary action which awaiting man after his life cycles. And this mobilizing of man benefiting them on the realizing that there is a God and one day the man shall lave the earth and go somewhere forever with his deserves.
It's another new religion that was invented years ago. It's like all those ones that you see on American telly. You never see them skint as they take the money that people donate.
In my own words this is Scientology. Some people think it is bull, others think it is the greatest thing around. Look a the principles and you be the judge.
Scientology isn't a faith system but a series of processes that a person uses to find his own truth. Here are some of the principles.
1. What is true for you is what you your self observe to be true.
2. Man is his spirit not his mind or his body.
3. The spirit creates his own mind. Please do not confuse the mind with the brain that is a physical thing. The mind is composed of mental image pictures as explained in Dianetics. These pictures serve the spirit to give him knowledge and experience. These pictures are composed of energy. The energy in the picture can affect the spirit. You can feel better by remembering something that you like or angry by remembering something else. These emotions are actually energy waves emanated by the picture. You can actually feel pain by remembering a pain memory. Sometimes this pictures are accompanied by ideas or considerations. Lets supposed that you father beat you mom up in front of you. Your father was the dominating figure so you might conclude that you have to act like your father in some situations. This is what we call in Scientology an aberration (a conclusion that is impose to you by a mental picture). This picture is what we call a engram; A pain memory that affects your judgment and free will.
4. A spirit is capable of considerations and ideas and this ideas are solely based on ugliness and bountifulness. The spirit reject ugly things and intends on making everything beautiful. Do you like your car, you house, your job, your friends? Are you friends nice with you? Can you improve things in your life? All these are ideas based on bountifulness and ugliness (Or order vs chaos, Or Good vs Bad). This is why the spirits rejects the ugly memories and by rejecting the ugly memories (not confronting them) he is unknowingly affected by them. Of course there are people that they can't create good effects. There are people that don't take care of them selves and don't take care of their possessions. This is of course an aberration.
5. You can discharge the energy in this pictures true communication. This is Auditing, the Auditor directs your attention to this pictures regardless of how ugly they are and you confront the picture and discharge the energy of the picture true the communication line. Have you ever experienced that after you talk about a problem you feel a lot better and the problem doesn't seem that bad?
6. The Spirit creates his own emotions. Are you happy? Are you sad? Are you depress? Maybe you think that something external of you is creating your emotions. Maybe you believe that you are sad because you had a bad day. Or maybe you believe that you are happy because you had a great day. And this might be true. But who made the decision that you had a good or bad day? You did. You decided if life was good or bad, and adjusted your emotions to respond to your own consideration. You created your own emotion.
Some people are born with everything they want and are still unhappy. And others are born into humble means and are happy. What's the difference? The only real difference is each persons ideas and considerations.
7. You are fully responsible for your condition. Blaming others for your condition will never solve that condition. Your condition is fully based on your ideas and considerations. Only by fully taking ownership of you condition can you solve that condition.
8. Scientology Ethics: Scientologist base their conduct on a non-denominational code of conduct. http://twth.org/eb/?id=16664j
Good are those actions that create the greatest good and bad are those actions that create the greatest harm. Un ethical behavior and wrong doings are the #1 reason a spirit diminishes it power. In order to stop your self from hurting others, you hinder your own abilities and force. The rehabilitation of your own abilities and force is dependent on you taking full responsibility for your actions.
9. Scientology vs Psychiatry. Psychiatry believes that self awareness, feelings, love and faith is merely cellular activity. Basically they think that you are your brain and you are not in charge of your behavior but your cells are. This is a totally materialistic point of view that denies the spirit and God. Psychiatrist allege that their believes are based in science but they are lying. Psychiatry have never pr oven that any "mental illnesses" (like they call it) has any connection with a physical illness. Any Neurologist will tell you that there are no medical test to identify a "Mental Illness". All Psychiatrist base their diagnosis on opinion and opinion alone.

Happiness, exhilaration, depression and psychosis are states of mind, not diseases. All what you have to do to stop being depress is change your state of mind. How you do that? By changing your ideas and considerations.
But is not only that Psychiatry is a false science. Psychiatry is actually a leach on Society. First they promote the idea that you are not responsible for your actions. Psychiatrist excuse the most horrendous crimes as mental illnesses. This is actually a covert act to destroy morals in society. Second they promote that drugs are the answer for your problems. This is another vicious lie. Drugs only serve to calm your nerves but never solve the source of your problems. You still have your problems but now you don't have the symptoms. This creates a sense of unreality, a sense of numbness. People under Psychiatric drugs will create the most horrible effect just to feel something. All those kids that you hear that bring guns to their schools and start killing people, all of them are Psychiatric patients under medication. Psychiatry doesn't solve psychosis, Psychiatry creates psychosis.

10. Scientology and aliens. The story of Xenu is just a fable like the story Jonah in the Whale in the bible. Fables are not intended to be taken seriously. The story of Xenu doesn't have any significance on Scientology beliefs. It is up to each Scientologist to identify what is true for him.
Scientology is a very interesting religion that takes years of study to master. I just mentioned a few fundamentals. Scientology is so advance and so different that people can't understand it. People think that they know everything there is to know about life. And when they see Scientology they jump to conclusions when in reality they don't have a clue what are they talking about. The reality is that man attacks what he can't understand. That's why Scientology gets so much bad press.

P.S. I 'm a Technical Sergeant in the US Air Force and a Scientologist. And haven't had any negative experiences with Scientology. A lot of people think that Scientology is great, so if they think it works and they are happy with it, I say let them be, if they want to spend their money in Scientology and that makes them happy that's their problem. I really I haven't spend much in Scientology, most of my studies I have done own my own reading books. So maybe I have spent like 2k in the last 10 years, that's not that bad. I don't drink, I don't smoke, I exersise, I have a pretty happy and ethical life.
Well I am a Scientologist (female ) and have been one for over 34 years. I understand that you probably aren't interested in my thoughts on this religion but I'm going to express them anyway.
I do not know what you base your own thoughts on specifically as they seem to be lumped in with your thoughts about religion in general. But just for the record this so called famous "quote" by L. Ron Hubbard that keeps coming up was actually published once in book called "The Book of Quotes" about 30 years ago and subsequently removed from all future editions as it was pr oven to be false. He never said it.
But this is not an uncommon kind of "rum our" that circulates in a society and results in what they now conveniently label "urban legends".
Scientology actually makes able people more able. It's not about people's "weaknesses" at all.
For me personally the discoveries Hubbard made about the human spirit completely align with my own observations and experiences of life . The technologies he developed to rehabilitate the individual as a spiritual being deliver exactly what is promised and a lot more in fact.
There are a few who consider that freeing an individual in this way is dangerous. But these few have a vested interest in a slave society. Hence the original attacks on Scientology.
Fortunately these attacks are pretty old now and have failed
in their intentions. It has been quite a battle, I was there for most of it.
Regardless it is apparent that religion in general GTE's attacked.
Scientology is no different and in fact has had a lot less to deal with than many other religions in this regard.
Here is an actual quote from an article written by L Ron Hubbard about religion and one of the many good things he did actually say rather than was "quoted" as saying.
" A society is capable of surviving for thousands of years unless it is attacked from within or without by hostile forces. Where such an attack occurs, the primary targets are it's religious and national gods and heroes,it's potential of leadership and the self respect and integrity of it's members.
If you look around you , you will find countless examples of these points. They scream at us every day from the newspapers and TV.
Probably the most critical point of attack on a culture is it's religious experience. Where one can destroy or undermine religious institutions then the entire fabric of the society can be quickly subverted or brought to ruin.
For the last hundred years or so religion has been beset with relentless attack. You have been told it?s the ?opiate of the masses ?, that it?s unscientific, that it is primitive, in short , that it is a delusion.
The source of this kind of attack is always covert and hidden. It is promoted by a few who have a vested interest in a slave society.
Unfortunately these few rely on creating fear and insecurity in others to forward and promote their enemy propaganda. These others feel correctly they have to defend themselves from an attack, but because the real enemy is hidden, they can be manipulated to attack what they really should be defending as they cannot see the real enemy.
The key here is that underneath all these attacks on organized religion there is one fundamental target:
The spirituality of man, your own basic spiritual nature, self respect and peace of mind. "
Well, I was very involved in it for almost 30 years, worked as an senior executive and advanced "counselor" and even did some very high level training at international training locations.
At the lower levels of Scientology and many of Hubbard's writings and books where he simply took knowledge and writings from exist ant sources such as Buddhism, Hinduism, the Tao, Christian teachings etc., Scientology has some real bright points of wisdom, despite the Hodge-podge of Hubbard's drug and alcohol influenced nonsense.
When we dismiss a lot of Hubbard's rantings we ignore that he was a VERY intelligent man despite his addictions, psychosis, paranoia and meg lo-mania. In many of his whitings he actually does draw some logical and rational conclusions and many of his guides to decent, sane and ethical behavior and conduct are extremely useful. The problem is that one never quite knows where Ron the Genius ends off and Ron the Nutcase begins!
The worst problem that I see after being involved all those years is that I discovered that much of the useful data was NOT published in order to actually help anyone but simply to seduce the sheep! For example one line of Hubbard's which all the "sheep" are taught to parrot is "what is true for you is is what you have observed yourself and when you lose that you have lost everything," as a "proof" that Hubbard encouraged people to think for themselves.
Nothing could be further from the truth as you will quickly find out if you ever get mixed up with this cult. Those who do not conform to "LRonHubbardThink" will be quickly isolated, harassed, attacked, even their families broken up, their businesses destroyed etc., etc, (just read the tragic personal stories of the victims in the anti-Scientology sites. - As an ex-member of the Church for so many years I can attest that the majority are TRUE!)
At the so-called "Upper Levels" where one is taught to become a "God-like Superbeing" (much like Tom Cruise, one can gain the "advanced ability to jump on couches, babble hysterically, freak Oprah Winfry out and fall madly in love with hot young girls") at that level, the true madness of Hubbard's delusional insanity becomes appear ant to all. That is why almost all of Hubbard's senior administrative staff, closest associates, advanced technical staff and personal assistants as well as the majority of those who actually reached the incredibly expensive "OT (advanced) Levels" have all left the "Church" and denounced Hubbard as well the fascist fruitcakes who have seized control of Hubbard's empire since his death caused by drug and alcohol abuse in the 80s.
Religion is a fascinating subject. It may have been used for evil, but it also has been used for great good in Man's history. It represents a great optimism and hope of the people in this universe that one day the Purpose of the universe and our place within it will be understood.
The search for answers to Creation, Purpose, the Spirit, the Divine Intelligence and so forth, cannot be invalidated nor dismissed no matter how many "religions" act badly or even prove to be false. It becomes the personal responsibility of each one of us to see and understand things for ourselves........
I don't know how many people actually know this but L.Ron Hubbard actually stole many of the concepts of Scientology from other religions and was actually a student of the Great Beast , Crowley , there are many recorded documents that express that even Crowley thought Hubbard was a soft minded fool and had no grasp of the purpose of religious development with in human nature ,Hubbard also made many claims about being a prophet and the herald of a new eon , concepts directly stolen foam the Book of the Law for which Hubbard had no true understanding
It is a CULT. Despite what a few fanatical members may say, it IS a cult. The church harasses & bullies anyone who they deem an "enemy" (basically anyone who has anything negative to say about the "church"). They will RUIN YOUR LIFE if you speak out against them long enough.
The founder is L. Ron Hubbard, the science FICTION writer who once told a friend that the best way to make lots of money is to start your own religion. Though being a very outspoken critic of psychiatric drugs, it was discovered upon Hubbards death that the anti-anxiety drug hydrolyzing (Vistaril) was present in his body, which several of his assistants would later attest was only one of many psychiatric & pain medications Hubbard ingested over the years.
Scientologists believe the evil alien ruler Xenu killed a lot of aliens (Thetans) from around the universe by bringing them to earth & blowing them up inside volcanoes. They believe the souls of these aliens (these souls are "Body Thetans") have attached themselves to us & cause many of our mental & physical ills. Even members of the Church of Scientology who know of Xenu will publicly deny the existence of Xenu & Body Thetans, or attempt to minimize their importance. Scientology has many graduated levels through which one can progress. Many who remain at lower levels in the church are unaware of much of the these doctrines, which mostly begin at Operating Thetan level three, or "OT III". Because the information imparted to members is to be kept secret from others who have not attained that level, the member must publicly deny its existence when asked. OT III recipients must sign a waiver promising never to reveal its secrets before they are given the manila envelope containing the Xenu knowledge.
To rid ourselves of "Body Thetans" & also ?engrams? (past negative experiences stored in our unconscious mind) so that we can become ?clear?, we have to go through "auditing" with a member of the ?church? who uses an "e-meter" to measure our ?reactive mind?...... & we have to pay lots & lots of money for ?auditing? (purchased in 12.5-hour blocks, costing anywhere from $750 for introductory sessions to between $8,000 & $9,000 for advanced sessions) & to take courses on Scientology to advance to higher ?levels? in the ?church?. The ?church? has also taken a very hostile stance towards psychiatry & psychiatric drugs irrespective of the fact that some people require medication to remain adequately functional in everyday life. They deny the reality of chemical imbalance & profound mental disturbance & accordingly do NOTHING to effectively stabilize the dangerously unstable. The ?church? has been known to withhold prescription pharmaceuticals from member (with deadly results).
Scientology is undeniably a cult. For more information on what a cult is & what their damaging effects are, please visit the link provided at the bottom of the sources. Just know that Scientology DOES qualify by meeting these 5 criteria:
(1) It uses psychological coercion to recruit, indoctrinate & retain its members. (2) It forms an elitist totalitarian society. (3) Its founder leader is self-appointed, dogmatic, messianic, not accountable & has charisma. (4) It believes 'the end justifies the means' in order to solicit funds & recruit people. (5) Its wealth does not benefit its members or society.
i believe to religion is the biggest thing that war is started over.
i also believe in what i see has to be true if any one reads the Bible is written not to warship any symbol and we do and the ark thing if there was a ark then it must be very big for all the animals to go on
