OK.. no this is not true..
Scientology is a religion based on making a better life for yourself.

There are always conspiracy theorists out there who will try and link anything so it makes a story, and that is what happens to Scientology.

The question should be.. What is a better religion?
One based on making a better life for yourself and your surroundings?
Or a religion based on a book?
Ill go with bettering my life over a book!

Any religion that does not worship the Lord God - worships a different God. There is only God and Satin - so tell me if they are not worshiping God who are they worshiping?

Check out http://www.johnfourteen.com
Look at "Studies in the Bible"
many answers to everyday life
can be found there.

You are insecure. Are you not? Christian aren't insecure about their religion for it is the only truthful religion out there founded by God. People and Satan try to destroy it, but as Christ said that even the gate of hell will not prevail against it. If you want to be sure of a true religion, accept Christ as your Lord and savior. Believe in Him and follow Him and you will be saved.

I can't get the site you linked to load, but from what I know of Scientology, it's not only disturbing, it's dangerously stupid. Course I might be tempted to call most religions that, but I think Scientology really tops them all in its ridiculousness

They tried to recruit me once but it didn't work...they are way beyond reason and totally abusive.

It is a scientist trying to program the human mind -- and make a Puck bug doing it. Very disturbing in it that it is very dangerous to mess with someones head and profit from it.

Perfect example of a dangerous tool fallen into the wrong hands.

I don't know if that stuff is true, but there is a big contradiction on the Scientology web page below. It says,

"In Scientology no one is asked to accept anything as belief or on faith."

Ironically, however, accepting things such as the paragraph located just above this line is completely a matter of faith:

"Man is an immortal, spiritual being. His experience extends well beyond a single lifetime. His capabilities are unlimited, even if not presently realized ? and those capabilities can be realized. He is able to not only solve his own problems, accomplish his goals and gain lasting happiness, but also achieve new, higher states of awareness and ability."

Definitely a matter of faith. Furthermore, the name "Scientology" seems to be trying to steal credibility from science, respected disciplines which use scientific method and constant questioning. Don't be fooled, like every religion, Scientology comes down to a matter of faith, regardless of how many celebrities endorse it.

You are right it is disturbing because it is meant to be.
This is just another attempt to attack or undermine a religion.
The opposite is what is true.
This is what Scientology actually is about.

Scientology is an applied religious philosophy. When I say "applied" I mean you actually use it in your life to change or improve existing conditions. This is different from a religious practice. All religions if you learn about them have a basic philosophy, but they also have certain dogma, rituals and observances, and a certain faith or belief is required. There is nothing wrong with this, but Scientology is not that kind of religion. It does not intrude on any ones faiths of beliefs particularly in the area of God , the Supreme Being, or the Infinite. This area is left totally up to the individual, which is why you can be a practicing Jew,for example and still use and apply the principles of Scientology in your life. It does not conflict. If anything it will enhance your understanding of your chosen religious practice.
You can have no specific religious beliefs and still benefit from using it.
And it is only true for you according to your own observation and experience with it.
It is a non denominational religion . The dictionary definition that applies:
Religion: The spiritual or emotional attitude of one who recognizes the existence of superhuman power or powers.

The most basic principle of Scientology is that YOU are your own immortal soul, that this is not a "thing" you HAVE but what YOU actually are.
The whole purpose of Scientology is to increase an individuals understanding and awareness of himself. And thereby his native abilities .
When you do this the sphere and zone of his positive influence increases and moves outward into his life, his family ,his friends, his groups and mankind which he is part of.

How this result is achieved is the "technology" of Scientology, which was developed by L.Ron Hubbard after his extensive research and the discoveries he made, about the human spirit. The basic religious philosophy and knowledge of Scientology is very old, going back 10,000 years at least to the Veda or Vedic Hymns from the East. The development of the technology is new.
He completed his research before his death in 1986 and left all of his results and copyrights
to the Church of Scientology along with most of his considerable estate., when he died.

He published a book in 1951 to communicate the basic principles he discovered called: " Scientology The Fundementals of Thought"
There are currently over 8 million Scientologists in more that 150 countries world wide. However we are a new religion, only 55 years old.
The true story of Scientology as a religion goes like this:
1. A philosopher develop es a philosophy about life and death.
2. People find it interesting.
3. People find it works.
4. People pass it along to others.
5. It grows.

After 35 years of studying it and applying it successfully to improve my life and the conditions of life for others I can personally attest that this is what Scientology is and does.

If you notice everything in that sequence refers to check able facts, relating to court documents, coroner's reports & other official bodies. They list the references at the end where you can check the facts for yourself.

It is true, and to say otherwise I think is in disrespect to the people and families involved. It is true, it is disturbing....

Scientology is a destructive cult.

http://www.whyaretheydead.net

Some of these people have been in Scientology for decades too, they don't paint such a nice picture as theta:
http://www.whyaretheydead.net/krasel/

Some videos, including interviews from ex-members:
http://www.xenutv.com

I'm not accusing theta of anything, but this could be why cytologistsSisn't tell the truth about this:

"THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN CONTROL PEOPLE IS TO LIE TO THEM. You can write that down in your book in great big letters. The only way you can control anybody is to lie to them."
L. RON HUBBARD "Technique 88"

" I also trained other Scientology PRs on how to handle the media, using material from Hubbard. This included how to respond to a question without answering, how to divert the issue, how to tell "an acceptable truth," how to stall for time, how to assume various emotional states to control another, how to "attack the attacker," how to take control of a conversation, how to introvert a person and how to "get the message across" (especially in an age of sound bites), how to help Scientology attorneys write inflammatory legal papers so the PR could then safely use the abusive phrases, and how to appear to be a religion."
Robert Vaughn Young PR Relations Officer for the Church of Scientology for 20 years.
http://www.clambake.org/archive/media/young-quill.html

They also justify their actions using the commonly known "I'm doing it for a greater cause' clause, which basically means they can do anything for the group Scientology regardless of whether it hurts others, or you are breaking the law. This is refer ed to as doing the greatest good on the greatest number of dynamics, referring to their 8 Dynamics, where group is higher than individual...

This is a great resource and has many links to all the evidence, court trials, govt. investigations, official reports, ex-member testimonials, books on the subject, and more:
http://www.clambake.org

Did you notice they are even trying to allude to some big conspiracy story to suppress scientology, this also includes certain governments, and the entire profession of physciatry and physcology. I mean come on, thats just utterly absurd as much as the story of Xenu.

Dawn L, well spotted, good answer....

Foxtail, you again did not view the link and therefore did not answer the question.

I can't believe how important is for you to have everyone know your Catholic. The Vatican is one of the most powerful states on earth, do you know why? they have swindled billions of people out of their money. Scientology is small fries compared to that.

No it is not messed up - you are the one who is messed up, hello 'god' was created at the time when the authorities had difficulty controlling the masses, what better way to control them than to say to them that if you are bad you will spend eternity in this bad place....HELLO

Scientology has helped me in so many ways in my day to day life and you really don't have any idea of what really happens in the church if you think it is 'messed up'.
