When I was Catholic, I was taught that Baptists, Pastors, Protestants did not want to obey the words of God?. Their 'bible?' has 66 books , where as the Catholic bible has 73 books.

Is that true? That Baptists, and Christians in the US just wanted to avoid God but invented their own God??
@Wumbo: The original bible had 73 books. Protestants, especially when they came to US, started deleting books.
@Christine Sundae: And you know it's approved by God because you talk to him?
@Beaner Schnitzel: They deleted books in the bible because they felt like it. Now they complain when we point out the remaining logical fallacies when they were the ones who first deleted books in the bible because they didn't like it.

Don't most Protestants teach the same thing about Catholicism?
They both ping pong back and forth that one is a heresy and the other is the truth.
Same goes with Mormons, JWs, etc.

People need to just stick to the Bible and stop adding things.

Not true, catholics see themselves as different from the other sects of Christianity, and therefore they want to demonize baptists, protestants, etc...

That's not true--it's the Catholics that are part of a monstrous pedophile organization (that is the world's largest and most funded!). They pray to Mary, believe in cannibalism, kiss icons, and stress tradition over worship. Does the word of God sustain them in this?

KJV Bible is the only authorized one. By God. The others are Satanic.

No, they worship the same god. They didn't invent their own god, they simply broke away from the Catholic church and started ones that they agreed with. This also happened 200 years before America actually became a country.

The books had been removed before they came to America. They removed the books because they felt that those books went against canon. It's not like the Catholic church didn't do the same thing when it compiled the bible. It left many gospels and books out of the bible.

No, they didn't like the dogma and BS of the Catholic church. Why should you have to confess to a man your sins? Or eat/drink Jesus?

Makes more sense to me. I'm an Atheist though. It's all stupid to me.

No your analogy is too extreme.

They protested the Catholic church, and yes they don't recognize all the books that the Catholics do. But to state that they "created" their own religion appears a little drastic, especially when you equate such creation as analogous to the most recent creation of Scientology.

Are you just trying to get the Catholics and Protestants to fighting? Where I come from we call that a "swizzle stick" because a swizzle stick is used to stir up all that stuff at the bottom.

That's close but not quite right. The Protestants (including the Baptists) didn't like what was going on in the churches they were currently in, so they decided to start their own, although the intent was to worship the same God they had been following all along. This is a different matter from the Scientologists, which was founded by a con artist with a wild imagination who knew that, no matter how crazy something may sound, if you call it a religion, people will believe it and give you lots of money.

The Protestants and Baptists are always telling each other stuff... The Protestant religion started out when a guy named Martin Luther protested against the Catholics and didn't believe in everything they did, so that guy made his own religion, which was somewhat derived from Catholicism just a little different.
Both believe of God and Jesus is his son, the end.! Lil

No. Catholics are Christian too.
The Protestant movement was started by Martin Luther in response to the selling of indulgences by the Church. Back then, the Catholic Church had become so corrupt that the wealthy could essentially buy their way out of sin, while the rest were damned. No one could argue because mass and scripture were in Latin, and the commoners were uneducated.
Scientology is totally made up though.

when I was a protestant, I was taught that the catholic church became a corrupt entity, with much of it's income derived from selling indulgences and selling prayers for the dead, and that most of the 'celibate' priesthood were sexually predatory.

check out 'martin Luther' sometime, you may learn something

Every religion tends to think that it's the only real religion and all the others are false religions. When they have differences of opinion, of course they think theirs is the true one.

Early Christianity, the first 4 centuries or so, had no New Testament. There was only a collection of documents, which didn't all agree. There were many different groups of Christians in those days and they all believed differently. Under the Roman Emperor Constantine, Christian belief was standardized into what became the Roman Catholic Church. For the next 1000 years, that the only kind of Christianity there was, just this monolithic, hierarchical government religion. Then came the Protestant Reformation and over the next few centuries Christianity once more became diverse. I'm not Christian myself, but I see diversity as a good thing because it means a certain amount of freedom of thought.

So yeah, Catholics and Protestants can slander each other, say the other religions are inspired by Satan, or invented by men who just wanted power for themselves. That's all just flak and I tend to ignore it most of the time (but in some cases it's empirically true!)

All religions derived entirely from Africa. The Egyptians borrowed aspects of their religion from the Ethiopians, Christians from the Babylonians, e.t.c, while the Greeks borrowed from the Middle East, the Romans did the same to the Greeks. In fact, religion is nothing more than a scam used to fool and control gullible people.

<<When I was catholic, I was taught that Baptists,Protestants is like Scientology? They created their own relic?>>

Well, that's about the ONLY thing that Baptists and other Protestant Churches has with Scientology!

<<When I was <snip>Is that true?>>

Yes. The Catholic Bible has 73 Books; 46 OT and 27 NT Books - the Full Canon of Scripture.
The Protestant Bibles, such as the KJV for example, has only 66 books as there are only 39 OT books.

<<That Baptists, and Christians in the US just wanted to avoid God but invented their own God??>>

Hold on a second. You're starting to generalize and, by doing so, losing touch with historical fact. Protestantism originated in EUROPE - NOT the US!
Second, 60 million of America's Christians are Catholic - who's Bible contains the Full Canon of Scripture.
