Wikipedia is even cooler. Check their article on Scientology, then check you tube for the Crazy Tom Cruise videos and then watch the South Park episode again.

Scientology is a difficult religion to summarize. Scientology has gained popularity due to some Hollywood celebrities who have embraced it. Scientology was founded in 1953 by fiction author L. Ron Hubbard, just four years after he made the statement, ?I'd like to start a religion?that's where the money is.? That is where he found wealth, also?Hubbard became a Miltie-millionaire.
Scientology is a very expensive religion to pursue. Every aspect of Scientology has some sort of fee associated with it. This is why Scientology's ?pews? are filled only with the wealthy. It is also a very strict religion and very punitive against those who would try to leave behind its teachings and membership. Its ?scriptures? are limited solely to the writings and teachings of L. Ron Hubbard.

Though cytologistsSTESL claim that Scientology is compatible with Christianity, the Bible counters each and every belief they hold to. The Bible teaches that God is the sovereign and only creator of the universe (Genesis 1:1); mankind was created by God (Genesis 1:27); the only salvation available to man is by grace through faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ (Philippians 2:8); salvation is a free gift that mankind can do nothing to earn (Ephesians 2:8-9); and Jesus Christ is alive and well and is seated at the right hand of God the Father even now (Acts 2:33; Ephesians 1:20; Hebrews 1:3), awaiting the time when He will gather His people to Himself to reside with Him for eternity in heaven. Everyone else will be cast into a very real hell, separated from God for eternity (Revelation 20:15).

Southpark is a cartoon. That episode is not what Scientology is. Scientology isn't the only religion it has created false data about (including Christianity) -- it's all about creating controversy to get attention.

Developed by L. Ron Hubbard, Scientology is a religion that offers a precise path leading to a complete and certain understanding of one?s true spiritual nature and one?s relationship to self, family, groups, Mankind, all life forms, the material universe, the spiritual universe and the Supreme Being.

Scientology addresses the spirit?not the body or mind?and believes that Man is far more than a product of his environment, or his genes.

Scientology comprises a body of knowledge which extends from certain fundamental truths. Prime among these are:

Man is an immortal spiritual being.

His experience extends well beyond a single lifetime.

His capabilities are unlimited, even if not presently realized.

Scientology further holds Man to be basically good, and that his spiritual salvation depends upon himself, his fellows and his attainment of brotherhood with the universe.

Scientology is not a dogmatic religion in which one is asked to accept anything on faith alone. On the contrary, one discovers for oneself that the principles of Scientology are true by applying its principles and observing or experiencing the results.

The ultimate goal of Scientology is true spiritual enlightenment and freedom.

HOW ARE CHURCHES OF SCIENTOLOGY SUPPORTED FINANCIALLY?

By their members, just like every other church.

Some churches have a system of tithes. Others require members to pay for pew rentals, religious ceremonies and services. In the Church of Scientology, parishioners make donations for auditing or training they wish to receive. These contributions are the primary source of financial support for the Church and fund all Church-sponsored religious and social betterment activities. Scientologists are not required to tithe or make other donations.

Scientology does not have hundreds of years of accumulated wealth and property like other religions; it must make its way in the world according to the economics of today?s society. When one considers the cost of ministering even one hour of auditing, requiring extensively trained auditors, not to mention overhead costs of maintaining Church premises, the necessity of donations becomes clear.

The Church selected the donation system as its primary method of funding because it is the most equitable. Those who most use Church facilities should be the ones who contribute most to its maintenance. Of course, no donation is expected from members who are at the Church to participate in a variety of other individual and congregational services which take place seven days a week?including participation in Group Processing, listening to tape plays of L. Ron Hubbard?s lectures, reading scriptural works in the Church library, meeting with fellow parishioners, receiving counseling from the Chaplain or attending Sunday services, weddings, christenings and funerals.

Scientologists? donations keep the Church alive and functioning, fund its widespread social reform programs, make Scientology known to people who might otherwise never have the opportunity to avail themselves of it and help create a safe and pleasant environment for everyone.

Yes, that's what cytologistsSdistally believe in, though they only tell the Xenu story to the few people that pay that kind of money.

They not only charge money to be a part of Scientology, they also encourage their members to scam other people to get even more money. See how successful cytologistsStestate in the latest news report by Bryan Seymour:

The South Part episode only shows the Xenu story which is part of the Scientology teachings or lore that is only revealed when a person reaches level OT 3, which is also known as the wall of fire. The average Scientology's will deny it because they will not have been taught it; it currently costs an estimated ?250,000 to reach OT3. There are 8 OT levels and costs go up for each level.

Scientologists are told that if they try to get the higher Scientology teachings before they are ready then their salvation and even their health is at stake. Scientologists who reach the higher levels are told not to reveal the secrets because to do so could destroy the person they reveal them to.

Once you become a Scientology's you will be expected to do various Scientology courses which you are told will get you to the status of "clear"; only after you become clear and do a few additional preparatory courses can you start the OT levels. The courses are the bread and butter for the church of Scientology because they charge a "fixed donation" for each one.

As a cytologistsST's will be swept up in the many important drives and campaigns aimed at clearing the planet, read making everyone a scientologist. As a public scientologist, that is a scientologist who takes courses but does not work for the church of scientology as a volunteer or a religious worker you will be bombarded with urgent demands for financial support for various emergency drives such as the "Ideal Org" campaign and you will also be asked repeatedly to buy various scientology literature.

As a staff member you will be allowed to do courses for free (subject to availability, terms and conditions apply) but you will always be kept busy working to get people to donate to the latest urgent drive or campaign. You may have to sell books or stand in the street and get people to come in to the scientology building for a free personality test or stress test. Scientology staff are very dedicated to their cause and work very long hours for very little pay, many have second jobs too so don't expect much play as a scientologist.

Someone here said the church is supported by it's members. It is. The public scientologists are always being brought to events where they are shown some film of the staggering successes of the church of scientology, like publishing enough way to happiness books that would stack to the moon or handing out 20,000 fliers or square footage of office space the organisation owns; all of which was bought through generous donations from members.

The church of scientology are even prepared to arrange for you to have a loan so that you can take a course.

Well, I am a Scientologists. Scientologists are encouraged not to "believe". They are encouraged to work things out for themselves. So let me explain what I personally understand. I would suggest that you are a life force, as I am. Life cannot be seen, but it can be experienced. Like gravity, which also cannot be seen, but can be experienced, so with life. Another word for life force would be spirit. You, as the life force, run the body.

Life appears subject to certain laws, which the physical universe is not subject to. For example, life will reduce the distance between itself and what it likes. A tree will send its leaves to the sunlight, its roots to water. A mother will cradle her son closely, and so on.

I also understand that by knowing the laws that control life, then I can use that knowledge to be in control of life instead of being the effect of life.

When these laws are used during counseling, then the counseling is extraordinarily successful.

There are hundreds of these laws. Maybe more.

I have read perhaps 15,000 pages on the subject of Scientology, and listened to hundreds of lectures.

You remember in the Bible where Jesus meets a mad man and he tells the demons that have control of that man, to leave the person for a pig, and they take over the body of a pig and the pig runs off the cliff? That is pretty weird stuff when taken out of context. And maybe animal's rights groups would see it as unfair on the pig. I am not saying what you speak of is the same. But I would be saying something out of context if I said Christians put demons in pigs.

In Scientology, one of the things you will find is that as you get the counseling I spoke of, you will improve your memory. Past life counseling is not unusual, and is more likely as the memory improves.

It is here that we hit what is termed para-Scientology. This is that part of Scientology that cannot be proved. Past lives is also the part easily taken out of context.

In other religions, such similar beliefs exist. In Islam, for example, Mohammad said that to truly understand Islam, one needs to understand all other religions, even the religions of persons on other planets. And, did not Jesus even ask who didn't the people say he was, referring to the incarnation of an earlier life? Now I am not saying he was referring past lives, but others have said this.

To show what out of context means, could I not ask if Christians believe in eating another man's flesh or drinking his blood? Now, do not get upset, and say I am writing something out of context, for I know I am. And that is my whole point. There is context, and out of context.

So, what to do with Scientology then?

Read something that is in context. I would suggest some books. But I will also give you some other reading pages you may find interesting. They will be in context.

I hope this helps a bit.
