Default Does Scientology make sense to you?

I've been a Christan all my life and brought up to believe in god and know that he made everything and he has all the answers . I know this but I've always been interested in science and it makes sense to think that science can prove a lot of things. Don't get me wrong I know there's a god but is it wrong for me to question him?

I've seen the commercial for Scientology and it asks somethings that I can relate to
I told my mother about the way i feel and she told me that I must not have enough faith
to believe in scene.
Yeah I understand now I had all these christian people telling me that I belonged in it and I assumed it wasn't about science.

No it doesn't, and neither does Christianity or any other religion.

Stay away from Scientology. I just did quite a study on this cult and they are brutal, secretive and all about money. They are currently under investigation for brutality to members and even the death of more than one ex member. Scientology has nothing to do with science, science fiction maybe as they believe all humans have alien origins. There is a You Tube video made by an ex member that is alarming. Jason Beghe, watch it.

First you must understand that Scientology and science are two VERY different things.
Scientologists have wild beliefs that aliens have implanted things in people on earth and greatly influence our behaviors. On the other hand science is a VERY human form of knowledge that at temps to understand the way things in nature work.

Scientology is a scam. Totally and completely. Check out Scientology on wiped.com
Scientologist believe that people were put at the base of volcanoes and when they exploded the people were scattered around the earth and that's how earth was populated. Absolutely nothing to do with science.

Scientology has nothing to do with science. From what I can gather they believe the reason we feel negative emotions is because of dead alien spirits that were killed by an evil alien warlord Xenu. And they tell you that you're unhappy, and the only way you can be happy is by giving them money. And it was all made up by a science fiction writer. Pretty much it's a scam. A way to get money off people who are gullible and stupid.

Most Atheist believe in a scientific existence to our existence rather than a mythical one. Not Scientology's. But Atheism means you don't believe in any gods.

Science and Scientology are two very different things.

Science refers to the method used by scientists to take raw data, and interpret it to give us a better understanding of the universe. Discoveries in Science are used by Engineers to build the modern world, including the Internet and the computer you are using to access the Internet right now. Science and Christianity are completely 100% compatible (unless you ask a Fundamentalist).

Scientology is a crackpot cult started by a failed Science Fiction writer. It's basic beliefs and cosmology (origin of all things story) aren't even available until you have already invested several hundred thousands of dollars in this scam. And when you do get there, you only learn that it is caused by an evil Alien galactic overlord, who blew up a bunch of alien ghosts on Earth with hydrogen bombs (he calls them "Thetans"), and that the the tans (souls) are haunting our bodies and keep us from being superheroes.

Scientology isn't the religion of science. It's the religion of science fiction. Complete and utter nonsense.

It is completely possible to be Christian and accept modern science. Don't let your mom lie to you.

It made sense to me. That's why I chose it after searching for answers to my questions more than 38 years ago.... it still makes sense to me but after studying and applying it over 38 years I have a lot more than sense, I have understanding , ability and freedom well beyond my expectations.

Recommend you check the Self Help section of your local library , all the basic books on Scientology are there. " New Slant on Life" is a good introduction.

Meanwhile here's a factual description for you so you have some understanding.

Definition:
The term Scientology is taken from the Latin word "SCIO" : which means, in the fullest sense of the word, "knowing", and the Greek word "LOGOS" which simply means "study of".

The subject of Scientology is further defined as :

"the study and handling of the spirit in relationship to itself, universes and other life. "

Scientology is a new religion. It is an applied religious philosophy. By ?applied? is meant that it is for use in life and living. You actually use it in your day to day life to change and improve existing conditions. It is a practical religion.
All religions if you study them have a basic philosophy, but they also have certain dogma, rituals and observances and a certain faith or belief is required. There is nothing wrong with this , but Scientology is not that kind of religion. It does acknowledge the principle of God or the Supreme Being but does not try to define or describe this principle, leaving it up to the individual.
It is also not a messianic religion. This means there is no worship of prophets or messiahs or gods. It is not belief or faith based. In Scientology a truth is true for you according to your own observation and experience .
The dictionary definition that applies:

Religion: The spiritual or emotional attitude of one who recognizes the existence of superhuman power or powers.

The most basic principle of Scientology is that YOU are your own immortal soul, that this is not a thing you have but what YOU actually are.
Scientology believes or considers that Man is basically good. This is different from many religions that promote that he his naively evil or bad unless ?made? good.

The whole purpose of Scientology knowledge application and procedure is to increase an individual?s understanding and awareness of himself as a spiritual being and to rehabilitate his native abilities and potential.
When you do this the sphere and zones of his positive influence increase and move outward into his life , his family and friends, his groups and Mankind of which he is part .

How this result is achieved is the ?technology? of Scientology, which was developed by L Ron Hubbard from discoveries he made after extensive research into the field of the mind and the human spirit.
Some of this knowledge was already existing in the sacred lore of ancient texts like the Veda or Vedic Hymns going back 10,000 years. New and additional discoveries were made about the nature of the human spirit and fully recorded and codified .
Scientology?s closest spiritual ties with any other religion are with Orthodox (Hinayana ) Buddhism with which it shares an historical lineage. But even here the relationship is based mainly on friendship and the recognition of the being as a spirit rather than any organizational ties.

L.Ron Hubbard published 18 basic books from 1950 to 1955 to fully communicate the basic principles of Scientology, the path of his research and the spiritual technology that he developed from this.
He completed all his research before his death in 1986 and left all his materials and copyrights to the Church of Scientology?s Religious Technology Centre along with most of his personal estate when he died.

The Church of Scientology is currently established Ind operating internationally in over 160 countries world wide. However it is still a new religion, less than 60 years old.
The true story of Scientology as a religion goes like this:
1. A philosopher develop es a philosophy about life and death.
2. People find it interesting.
3. People find it works.
4. People pass it along to others.
5. It grows.

This is just an overview.
L.Ron Hubbard explained fully the theology and technologies of Scientology in more than 500,000 pages of writings, including dozens of books and over 4,000 tape recorded public lectures.

You can also go to WNW.scientology.org for a much more detailed description of this religion.

Science is a term that is often not fully understood. It's meaning comes from the Latin root SCIO which means "knowing". When something that is truly Science is discovered it is done empirically, which is proving out a theory through experience or experiment.

This is how L Ron Hubbard, while a student of engineering and physics, in the 30s, arrived at the data which is Dianetics in the late 30s and went on to test many eastern religious doctrines and came up with what is now Scientology, in the early 50s. Since "logy" comes from the Greek "study of", Scientology and SCIO "knowing", it means "study of knowledge" or "knowing how to know". In that sense, both Dianetics and Scientology are Sciences. The full research has been laid out in the fully published and available books called the Basics.

These are all available in libraries all over the world. (There are 18 which cover from the original Thesis in the late 30s to the final works in the 50s).

Any "theories" or ridicules or claims are opinions from those who haven't bothered to find out for themselves, but can only parrot back what anti-Scientology sites parrot. Rumors and myths. The truth is in the books. It isn't a matter of having faith that Scientology works. It's knowing through personal experience and observation for each Scientologist.

ThetaAlways does a beautiful job of giving you a basic summary. As she says, there is much more detail at the main Scientology web site.

Since Scientology is about you learning knowledge about yourself as a spiritual being, about your life and the world around you, and the way our urge toward optimum survival (is broken down into 8 parts, which God is a part of), it's a philosophy that can be used along with any religion. Please do take the time to look at the data on the link so your question can be fully answered:
