Default Is Scientology protected by copyright law?

If I make up a similar religion will they sue me for copyright violation?

I would guess it is protected, after all, It's American in origin.

May I ask a question?

Why would you want to copy a farce?

No. The literary works of L. Ron Hubbard are the definitive works on Scientology however and they definitely are protected by copyright.

You need to understand what "copyright" laws are.
You need to clear up what COPYRIGHT LAW actually IS .
Unless your real purpose here is to just stir up some more anti Scientology/religion "stuff" .
In which case skip the rest of my answer.

Founding your own similar religion would not violate any copyright law.
Copying and using the published written materials of another individual without permission or symbols etc Altering them, claiming they are from yours ...rather than the actual or correct source etc...
These are copyright violations.

L.Ron Hubbard published 500,000 pages of writings, including dozens of books and over 3,000 tape recorded public lectures to communicate fully the theology , basic principles of Scientology, the path of his research and the spiritual technology that he developed from this.
He completed all his research before his death in 1986 and left all his materials and copyrights to the Church of Scientology?s Religious Technology Centre along with most of his personal estate when he died. These all come fully under "copyright laws".

There are similarities in all religions you can't "copyright " Man's search for spiritual understanding and spiritual salvation. You can definitely copyright anything you create and publish, the written and recorded results of your OWN research and discoveries in this field and anything else you create, if you should create anything in the future
(including a religion)
