There really creepy. Me and my biff saw them at the train station once, and they were passing stuff out and it looked like some of them had guns, and they never smiled.
I don't know anyone who thinks Scientology is dangerous. Silly and vaguely crazy, sure, but dangerous? not so much. So long as they don't start manufacturing kook aid, we're probably safe.
I don't see it as dangerous. In "Religulous" Bill Maher acts like one of those park preachers that stand in a park and tell everyone to repent. Rather than Christianity, he uses Scientology which is the funniest part of the entire movie. As he is quoting Scientology to the people, they are laughing as they walk away. Most stay just because it's so ridiculous! It's not dangerous. It's just really weird.
Fair game policy I imagine; also that they encourage people shun their family if considered "suppressive persons." Plus some very scary allegations made by ex-members of Scientology.
I don't think it is considered dangerous by most. The world would be much better off, and much closer to dissolving their dangerous cult if most were aware of how dangerous they really are.
To answer the essences of your question though, it is considered dangerous to me because it is a cult, and a murderous and treacherous one at that.
They have a policy of forced disconnection to those who are "declared" SP (suppressive persons) which is a key characteristic of a cult.The tales of those who have survived or escaped in the groups main Orgs are horrifying.
The leaders own niece has denounced their separation tactics.

Children raised in Sea Org are routinely unlawfully removed from schools, forced to work upwards of 40 hours per week for less than minimum wage, and left unsupervised. There are many stories of these children being targeted by pedophiles, or trafficked for money.

Truthfully, Scientologists are actually electrified and you will get a very strong electric shock if you come into contact with one.
The real cause of "fear" or "danger" in any society towards another group of people (religious or otherwise), is ignorance.
This fact is relied upon by a few fear-mongers with their own agenda in order to manipulate societies into all kinds of murder and mayhem.(wars ,fights, etc)
History is littered with the devastation produced by this mechanism. Hitler and the 3rd Reich is an example that is only recent history.
Regardless. this "view" of Scientology in fact is NOT the view of "most". This again is how it has been made to "appear" by those few who consider their own vested interests are somehow threatened by this religion.
The truth is that Scientology is growing and expanding as a new religion very fast and so the "fear-mongers" are getting pretty desperate since they have completely failed in their campaign to wipe it out.
