How long has scientology been out there?

Is this new faith or religion or something? And how long has it been known for?

What a ridiculous religion. How can anyone watch footage of Hubbard and think he has all the answers? The bloke comes across as a dick. Its overstayed its welcome I say.

It was started as a wager between Hubbard and a friend. It's just a way to separate people from their money.

Scientology / ideology is simply religion trying to prove itself scientifically, which we all know mixing science and mythology is like mixing oil and water they simply don't max.
But then again what do I know I'm just an atheist that believes in practical things.

Scientology began with L. Ron Hubbard's book "Dianetics: The modern science of mental health" which he published in 1950. He formed the Church of Scientology basically as a way to avoid paying tax, as religions are exempt from paying tax. This is despite the fact that it makes its members pay huge amounts of money for its services. America is pretty much the only country where it is classed as a religion: other countries classify it as a business.

Be very cautious of Scientology, and do your research beforehand. My personal opinion, and the opinion of many others, is that it's a dangerous brainwashing cult.

Originally discovered by it's Founder in 1952 and the first Church was formed by its followers in 1954.
