Is Scientology any less valid as a religion as Christianity or Islam?

Everyone craps on Scientology just because it's newer than the others, but couldn't that make it better? Movies today are better than movies fifty years ago. Food tastes better now than it did in 1000 AD. Why isn't a new religion given more respect? Maybe it's the latest and greatest!

I am not denying that Scientology is a scary cult but it's just as much a religion as the others.

Do you think that Scientology seems extra bizarre because we all haven't had enough time to just get used to the concepts? Like, if you compare it to a lot of stuff in other religions, it's pretty much the same level of crazy. But it's all new and therefore, weirder.

IMO all religions are the same. They are there to create behavioral traits and control the masses (not all bad). If I was going to join a religion it would be Scientology (even though they're nuts). They have a less bloody history.

Well, one has to remember that ALL religion exists to control what people think and do. It has NOTHING to do with the actual deities worshiped.

Also, one must realize that Scientology is a made up cult. L Ron Hubbard was drinking with his buddies one Sunday afternoon, and someone bet him he couldn't come up with a religion that people would not believe in. They were discussing how stupid the masses are at the time. What he came up with became Scientology. In this belief system, THE MORE MONEY THEY PAY TO SCIENTOLOGY, THE MORE BELIEVERS MOVE UP THE CHAIN TOWARDS "CLEANSING".

When money = religious cleansing, wouldn't you call that a cult?
