Theists, when you see religions like Scientology spring out of thin air and prosper,
Those Scientologists believe just as sincerely as you, and maybe with more fervor.
Does it sometimes make you wonder about the ease with which new religions can come about and be considered by their followers the one and only indisputable truth? Do you ever catch a glimpse of your own face in the distorted mirror of Scientology, reflected back at you?
Not at all.
I always trust God.
Why trouts the ways and circumstances of man over the ways and circumstances of God?
God is over all and I trust Him always.
Why should I doubt God after having had an encounter with Him in which He radically and totally transformed my life for the better? We all know that Scientology is the mental child of a sci-fie writer who took on a bet and won, starting first with diabetics, then moving on to Scientology, with no basis outside his own imagination.
No. Why would I doubt my own just because another religion pops up? That seems rather silly.
They are free to believe they are the only ones with "the truth". Personally, I don't believe there is a "The Truth" for any single religion or group of people to have. We all find truths and we all try to hold onto those truths, but that's about it.
No. Why would I catch a glimpse of my own face in the distorted mirror of Scientology? At least follow Thur with your vague "insult" - if that's what it is.
Sincerely believing in something does not make it true. No it does not make me wonder. Jesus said this is how it would be. "Many false Christs will come and deceive many". Matthew 24:11 "I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I've committed unto to Him for that day". 2Timothy 1:12
Sincere belief can't save anyone! It's little wonder that people go for cults like Scientology as they are promoted by Satan who knows exactly how to present the "truth" to people who have virtually no Bible knowledge and are therefore fair game. Scripture tells us that in the last days people will depart from the truth and follow after doctrines of demons (Satan) as they will no longer be able to hold to sound doctrine. How do Christians know the difference between a true doctrine and a false one? We know immediately when the doctrine fails to align itself with Scripture's truth. The Lord holds these people to be without excuse as they have failed to "search the scriptures" and have therefore gone into deliberate error which the Lord holds as "willful" It is a pity that people fail to take the time to read God's word and allow themselves to be deceived as we have only one Word of God which is unchanging. There are more false religions in the world today than ever before and if people were to take seriously their eternal welfare, they would be searching out the Word of God with diligence. "There is no other name under heaven given to men whereby we must be saved other then the name of the Lord Jesus Christ." plain and simple (thus Sayer the Lord) Quite frankly, Many Christians are amazed as to how anyone of sound mind could believe the doctrine of Scientology as it is so far removed from Scripture's truth that even a child would be able to pick the difference.
The irony is that Scientology is all-denominational. Each and every person can continue his own religion. This perhaps is why its prospering. We are not in competition despite the anti-Scientology false data being spread by those with no first-hand knowledge of the doctrine, or those who are anti-religion want to see that man has no hope for a better life. (I refer to those who don't have enough confidence in their own beliefs that they feel they need to attack others' religions).
As an applied religious philosophy, Scientology is something we DO, not believe.
The keynote of the Scientology religion is the human spirit ? its salvation and rehabilitation. It teaches that an individual is a spirit ? not a body, a brain, or a fortuitous random conglomeration of genes and chemicals. It is this recognition of the nature of an individual that forms the foundation of the Scientology religion.
Throughout the ages, man has traditionally viewed himself as a spiritual being. It is only in the last century that the materialistic idea that man is a mere animal similar to a monkey or rat has taken hold (this being pretty much the same time the references to heaven, hell and only one life were entered into the Bible). Scientology teaches that this idea is patently false, unworkable, and acts as a barrier to personal understanding of life. One little suspects how much untapped potential one has to create his or her own life.
Scientology directly addresses an individuals spiritual nature with answers to the age-old questions ? Who am I? What do I consist of? Where do I come from? Where am I going? This spiritual enlightenment leads to personal understanding of oneself, others and one?s relationship to the Universe.
