It was made up by a science fiction writer
You could also base your religion on Star trek or Dr. Who or maybe become a Jedi

Roughly speaking... everyone problems are the result of people being blown out of a volcano by some intergalactic weirdo named Xenu. The troubled "souls" from that explosion are the tans, and the church of Scientology will get your the tans straightened out by way of milking every penny they can from you.

Oh and you had a past life, several in fact. One of those was probably someone famous, because that's really catchy.

Scientology is a propaganda, a belief in science and the good of humanity, with a little bit of wackiness thrown in, like most religions. You could always e-mail Tom Cruise and ask him what its like.

Hi, I'm Scientologist since 1981.

Scientology is more similar to oriental religion like Buddhism, that occidental Hebraic religions. This is one of the reason why people goes a bit in confusion about the "religion" of Scientology.

Scientology is gnostic (Gnosis: Knowledge; searching the salvation through the personal experiences and personal knowledge) type of religion. There is some divinity part of us that is hided; forgetting in anyone of us. We believe that we have the potentiality to know, and that in some way we are not using or we have forget.

Scientology help to find more about our self as spiritual being, and the relationship with others, this universe and God.
