'And he will send his angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens.' Mark 13:27.

You may want to take a look at 2 Thessalonians 2:1-3 and 1 Corinthians. 15:51,52.

Invisible Pink Unicorn >> And your view relates to the rapture in what way?

The rapture will occur at the very end, when we will all be transformed, not just Christians being "beamed up".

@BAYkal
the Earth is a sphere, meaning there is no end. oh but wait, the Bible was written when people thought the Earth was flat
@BAYkal
my view of the rapture is this.
God does not exist and The Bible is false story, therefore the Rapture will not happen. if there ever is a catastrophic event Christians will say that it was God, and i will continue to say that it was not.
@anybody who is a Christian
have you heard about the invisible pink unicorns?
there is a book about them
i have faith that they are pink
i know they're invisible because i can't see them
because of these three arguments, i can conclude that invisible pink unicorns are real.

Rapture,as it relates to scripture,is theological terminology for an event that will take place when the Lord Jesus Christ returns to the earth and calls the the dead in him and the remaining living church unto himself. This here is the exact scripture:

1 Thessalonians 4.16, "For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven Himself with a shout,with a voice of the Archangel and with the trump of God and the dead in Christ shall rise first. 17.Then they which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds,to meet the Lord in the air;and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

The word "rapture" is not found in scripture;it is theological terminology to describe this event.

Yes, it's pretty much made up. Someone took less than ten lines of Scripture and made a whole doctrine of this 'rapture'. FYI, you won't find that word in the Bible.

What's interesting to me is that those folks don't stop to think that God has never, ever had to remove his people from the earth to protect them. The Deluge, Sodom and Gomorrah, Egypt, etc. There is no question that the end of this system of things is upon man, but God is perfectly able to shepherd his people through the Great Tribulation and Armageddon right here on earth, as the Bible says he will.

From what I know, it was invented by a father/son pair of Puritans named Increase and Cotton Mather. The name "rapture" came from Philip Doddridge and John Gill. The "tribulation" stuff was created by Morgan Edwards.

I wouldn't say science fiction. More like fantasy.
