Why do people take cults like **SCIENTOLOGY** seriously?

Anyways cults like Scientology are so STUPID! I mean the whole concept came from a Sci-Fi book. Did you know that people from this cult have to spend upwards to a million dollars just to rise ranks? They also have fixed donation rates. Their churches are like a dukes palace. People have convinced themselves that the cult leaders care about their mind slaves. What a joke. Why is this crap taken so seriously?

Some people are idiots and can't think for themselves. It's nice to think that nobody is that stupid, and maybe you've never met anyone that stupid, but... apparently there really are people out there who are such idiots to believe some bull**** "religion" like that.

Why are ANY religions taken seriously? Because they promise you the things you desire (like eternal life), and convince you that they're telling you the truth. It's always been that way, and the gullible, simple, needy and desperate have always fallen for it.

Other than being founded in living memory by a man who was an obvious fraud, they're the same as most other religions. Their beliefs and practices are really within the norm for religions -- nutty as a fruitcake, irrational and self-reinforcing.

Because so many celebrities have gotten behind it. Suddenly something becomes cool (no matter how ridiculous it is) when it has celebrity endorsement. Nancy Cartwright (the voice of Bart Simpson) gives millions of dollars to Scientology each year. It doesn't seem to concern of its members that others are being abused, controlled, forced to have abortions, disown their own relatives, treat little children like adults, and hand over large percentages of their wages. You'll notice that there are no Scientology churches in poor neighborhoods. They're just after rich people with more money than sense.

Stupidity is defined as the unknownsESSa consideration. Truth is the exact time, place, form and event. I don't see any truth in your comment (definitely not a question, even), just generalized opinions.

You are completely closed minded and ignorant. Scientology is no different than any other religion. They all ask for money. Scientology is done in courses, not church services. You are trying to compare things that are run differently. In Scientology, they learn more about themselves and the world around them by taking courses at or gs, and they cost money just like a course you would take at a university. The people who follow this religion get a lot out of these courses. They are either helpful in life or spiritual for them. Just because you dint understand something doesn't mean its bad. Its not a cult either. You should take a page out of the Scientology playbook and properly clear the word cult.
