is taliban shi'a or sunni? and why are they fighting us?
Shi'aThe Shi'a constitute 10–20% of Islam and are its second-largest branch.[9][12] They believe in the political and religious leadership of Imams from the progeny of Ali ibn Abi Talib, who according to most Shi'a are in a state of ismah, meaning infallibility
is taliban shi'a or sunni? and why are they fighting us?
i asked a friend and he said US are fighting Taliban because of 9/11. but they attacked 9/11 because they didn't like US's views or freedom. but then i asked why do they care what we viewed? so he said because US did something? and there WA a whole line of stuff i forgot what he said. then it somehow lead to why did Nato attack them or why did they attack NATO. so please tell me why this whole war started, if you know about the current politics and warfare
the Taliban are not Shina. they killed the people of hazarKata were shia. they believe shias are not muslim and deserve to die.
then again the taliban are not sunni either. they are an extremist sect known as Wahabi. it is a branch of sunni
this is how the war started. planes crashed in the twin towers. USA invaded afghanistan because george bush thought osama bin laden was behind it. whether he was or not i don't know. now the remaining taliban attack nato trying to take back the country they claim as there own.
Taliban is Sunni. The war started because the Taliban had a hand in 9/11 (although it was Al Qaeda that was really behind it, they are both related groups and are associated with Osama Bin Laden). However, since Al Qaeda is a global terrorist organization, it would be extremely difficult to attack it (since it is based in many nations), so the US decided to weaken a strong base of Al Qaeda, and attack the Taliban which were fierce supporters of Al Qaeda.
In my opinion, though I usually don't support foreign wars (such as Vietnam and the War on/in Iraq), I believe the NATO operations in Afghanistan are positive and justified since Taliban is truly an evil organization that committed horrible crimes in Afghanistan, transforming that nation into one of the most backwards countries of the world, and abusing the rights of all citizens of Afghanistan especially Afghan women. So NATO decided that the time was ripe to uproot the Taliban, and they have done so rather successfully, and though the Taliban still maintains some presence in Afghanistan, it is in an extremely weakened state when compared to what it was before the 2001 Invasion.
The Taliban is a Pashtun group, and the Pashtun people are Sunni.
They didn't attack the US, that was AL-Qaeda. But the Taliban government of Afghanistan (they ruled the country back then) provided safe havens for AL-Qaeda in their country and allowed them to build terrorist training camps there.
This is why after 9/11 America invaded Afghanistan and deposed the Taliban from power, because they refused to hand over AL-Qaeda and close down the terrorist camps.
They're sunnies I believe. (though Dick Cheney famously and incorrectly called them Shiites.)
During the cold war in Afghanistan, Russians were invading. During that time, the US thought it was it's duty to stop the spread of communism. So the USA provided weapons and money to the dissidents and rebels who were fighting the Russians in Afghanistan. And in one astounding battle on a hill top a large man by the name of Osama Bin Laden and his men fought hard under heavy fire and mortar attacks. Back then, he was a great hero. Kind of funny how now he's the arch enemy of the world...Anyway, the USA provided the newly forming Taliban (led by Bin Laden) with aid, money and guns until the Russians decided it was time to abandon the fight and go home. And when the Russians went, so did the United States of America, the USA abandoned their new allies completely and chose to trade with the Saudi King instead of the Taliban since Saudi Arabia was and is a much more powerful ally.
And, from there, it became incredibly easy to demonize the western world, not just for what they've done, but the fact that west appears to be a world of sin and evil in the eyes of the radical Islamist.
Okay who ever you talked to does not know so here goes.
The Taliban is Sunni but use harsh Shi'a law. The Taliban supported and hide AL-Qaeda and Osama Bin Laden after the 9-11 attacks. Because the Taliban did not turn over OBL the US and NATO attacked a drove both the Taliban and Al-Qaeda into the mountains. As long as OBL is alive and Al-Qaeda threatens the US the US will hunt them. Read "The Kite Runner" to understand who the Taliban is. While it is a novel it is accurate description how the Taliban uses Shi'a Law. Racism in Afghanistan and should help.
put it this way.. they think of us like we think of them.. they think we are the one oppressing Pol.. they think we are the ones killing innocent people.. they think we are the ones polluting their country.. ID how that is done because last time I researched they are the ones NOT willing to put their guns down their for it is obvious.. some one has to stop them, and I dare to ask this question.... HOW ARE THEY GOING TO RUN THEIR COUNTRY AFTER WE LEAVE ??? are they going to just kill any and every one that says NO to them ??????? is that Taliban's version of humanly treating its people!!???? and then they have the nerve to say we are the oppressors!!!
