Shintoists hold that all religions' gods are just another Kami so there's no conflict and one isn't better than another, so there is no reason not to belong to several if that's what you think is right for you. The concept of Kami is different than the western concept of god as an all powerful supreme being. Kami is the personification of the divine spark that is in almost every natural object, whether animate or inanimate. Objects which create a sense of wonder are thought to have a powerful Kami residing.
It seems to me that the problem with many religions is that they are monotheistic. The "one and only supreme being" concept tends to separate everything into black and white, right or wrong, etc. which leads to bigotry, persecution, religious wars, and other atrocities. The main feature of monotheism is that it lets the leaders accumulate large amounts of wealth and power due to the strong hierarchical structure.
Of course, the real world isn't just black and white, there are shades of Grey and many co lours. Polytheistic religions tend to have a weak hierarchical structure and each religious cent re is more-or-less independent and stands or falls based on whether it provides a worthwhile service to the community. In most cases the priests don't collect more than they need to keep things going although a few very popular cent res do because they get a lot of tourist trade rather than just the locals.
You can choose anyone religion but until you are not religious you will not find peace in anyone of them .
