When I was an exchange student in Japan I went fairly often to Shinto shrines and went through some of the motions. ("When in Rome", you know.) I guess you could say I was practicing it. I found it to have much more appeal to me than most religions.
A lot of folks practice Shinto. Shinto is about how you live your life rather than about preparation for the whatever might come after. For more information, here's a link to a shrine located in Washington:
