Default Are there any women kannushi at Shinto Shrines in Japan?

I've never seen or heard of them, and having never been to Japan, I'm not sure. I've seen videos of women leading festivals for Shinto shines (such as the Penis Festival), but haven't seen them perform ceremonies, etc.

If they're not mannish, are there women that work at Shinto temples or shines in other forms?

I heard there are women Kannushi. But there are few.
I think they are not Kannushi in "Penis Festival".
Probably they are Miko.
Click the next for "Penis Festival".
"Love & Know NAGOYA"?"Festival and Events"

Accordingly Kannushi is Shinto's shrine representative and its general manager to perform several ceremony.

Before WW? ended the qualification was allowed to male only, however, then now on there is no gender discrimination for getting qualification.

People who want to be Kannushi must take designated course of special University or Shinto shrine head office to get master degree for qualification.

Kannushi has own classification such highest one Guuji, second Gon-Fuji, then Negi and Gon-neg and probation or.

The number of female Kannushi has not been disclosed but they are existing actually. It seems still the highest class is very few for female.

Miko is a just assistant female to Kannushi and not Kannushi itself.

The Iron Penis festival is just one small performance of whole Shinto's ceremony. The festival is for wish to family prosperous, sexual disease transmittance and happy marriage. It is sacred and not for like pervert and freak thing.
