Probably because Christianity is the most popular and bigoted religion in the world.
The Bible itself calls atheists 'fools, wicked, do no good' etc. Christians also call all other religions 'from Satan' (basically saying everything non-Christian is 'evil')
What response do Christians really expect to such a bigoted doctrine? Christians even claim to be 'persecuted' when people respond to their rampant propaganda. And don't get me started on what Christianity (and Islam) has done against homosexuals, Jews and pagans over the centuries.
Why do people think Christianity should be immune from response? The very root of their faith is misanthropic (original sin) believing that we all deserve disease and death and calamity because of something two people did years ago.

You stated yourself that atheists don't generally bash 'other religions'
But it's a fact that Christians bash EVERY religion. It's part of their Dominions doctrine.
I have never met a non- christian person who told me I was damned or tried to convert me.
And I grew up in a very Jewish neighborhood, most of my friends are pagan, one is Buddhist, my best friend co worker is Hindu. Many of my co workers are Muslim. You figure it out.

Because Christianity bashes atheism. I don't know anything about Ratana or very much about Jainism but it is possible I believe to be Shinto and another religion, and in some religions they don't believe that everyone who isn't doing what they are is going to burn in hell. Buddhism for example.
So I don't tend to "bash" religions that are tolerant of other religions.
The other reason that atheists make fun of Christianity is that it is patently ridiculous. Have you read the Bible? Most of it contradicts most of the rest of it or was clearly written by someone with a chip on their shoulder about something, or on drugs!
If it makes you feel better I "bash" (meaning question or debate or dislike) all theistic religions.
However, because I am an American and live in a country that is heavily influenced by Christianity it is what effects me and my life more so I take it more personally than other religions.
Like I said though, if you give up your life and personal responsibility to any supernatural, omnipotent deity you are essentially all the same to me.

What do you mean when you say "atheist"? Shinto doesn't have a high deity. I couldn't swear to it, but Ratana looks very like the aberrant Japanese Christianity which existed during the isolationist period to me.
So, the problem i have with your question is that you seem to be using the word "atheist" in a way which differs from my usage.
I haven't bash Christianity. I have asked questions about some Hindu practices, questions about Muslims (which got deleted), and about Judaism. Also, I asked about pagans (many of them get offended pretty easily). I know that some Atheists only focus on Christianity. I don't know why, it seems they are being very narrow minded since Christianity isn't the only religion in the world. Jainism is an offshoot of Hinduism so I know something about it but I doubt any of them are in Y/A! They do have crazy beliefs too but all religions do.
Because the Ratanas, Shintoists and Jains are not trying to get their beliefs taught as fact in public school science classes, or enacted into laws targeting those whose sexual orientation differs from the one their god approves of, or trying to overturn abortion, or in any other way trying to make their personal belief system into the law of the land, the law that all must follow. DUH!!
Surely you can work it out when you realize that there is no problem with any other religions and atheists!!!
Ask yourself why it is only Christians that get attacked and not the other religions?!!!!
