(Evidently, I need to clarify. For those who live in Japan and somehow haven't noticed, they are often practically ADJACENT when there are no others in the vicinity. It's not as if they were randomly built and just happen to be near each other once in a while. It's a pattern, and it is remarkable. It is definitely NOT like churches once in a while being within a block of a synagogue, or something like that.)
