Shinto is the Japanese form of Buddhism, I think. I assume they meditate and guide others in the way of of the Buddha.

Priests do the same things in all religions.
They guide the faithful in prayer.

Shinto, whilst enjoying a harmonious relationship with Buddhism, is an entirely different belief system and is unique to Japan.

According to this article it is not the same as Buddhism, although it integrates Buddist practices in some sects of Shinto. Pure Shinto has not been the main religion of Japan for some time, although there are forms of it everywhere.
