Default How is Pokemon a marketing campaign for Shinto?

I'm not asking why or if it does... All I am asking is how, because I read it in an article on metaphor.com about the Power Puff Girls Movie.

Isn't that like saying "Robin Hood" is a marketing campaign for Christianity? Kind of silly, don't you think? Shinto is a way of life in Japan, so naturally aspects of it show up in movies, TV, and animation.
