It's just that when 80% of the religious people in Yahoo Answers are Christian, about 80% of the Answers by atheists are responding to Christians.
Also, a large portion of atheists are former theists. Since most on line are from countries with a Christian majority, those atheists mostly come from Christian backgrounds.
Christianity also tends to be one of the more vocal religions, so it attracts a larger response. Do a search and see how many Shinto questions have been asked. The number will be negligible in comparison to Christian questions asked.
Well that would be because none of those actively go out of their way to enforce their beliefs upon the society in which I live. _SOME_ Christians do, and I have a problem with that, hence I bash _SOME_ Christians.
because Satan is after that True Christain, He does not need to be after those others because he already have them, Therefore the atheists are after the true Christain, little do they know a True Mature Christain is wiser then them. they are 37 yrs too late to even try to change my belief.
If you don't like them then why don't you speak to the them about it and leave this Atheists out, cause I don't have a problem with Eastern religions, pagans or any religion that minds it's own business and ain't breaking any laws cause they don't bother me. Now I am not feeling the Muslims(that bother Atheists) cause they are starting to grind an Axe too and they know where they can stick.
Mostly because atheists on this site mostly come from Christian countries. So that's the doctrine they're most familiar with. Most atheists I know also don't have much of a problem with people's private beliefs. They start getting irate when somebody wants to use these beliefs as political leverage to direct the rest of society. The doctrine of 'believe or go to Hell' which some Christians espouse is also a particular irritant. It makes your opponents more militant. They could direct the same criticism at Islam, but again, most of them don't deal with Islamic Imams on a daily basis.
As for Shinto and Hinduism, their polytheism is mostly symbolical. These people believe the divine is too complex to be understood in its entirety. So they believe in these emanations. But the emanations are not necessarily gods in their own right, but simply facets of the divine incarnated in a certain way to make things easier for the human mind. So they don't adopt this 'believe or go to Hell' attitude.
As for Buddhists and Confucians... Well, technically, they are atheists too.
Because those religions have no impact in my life, unlike Christianity and Islam. Also, we have to contend with Christians more than any other religious group in the West.
It wouldn't make sense to criticize Hinduism while on the English Y!A.
Ever notice that these pages are in English? What forms of religion are most common in English speaking counties? The number of Shintos, Jains or Taoists posting on these pages in English must be pretty small as I've never seen one. I've seen a few Muslims, a few Hindus, a Wiccan and one character who claims to follow Odin. But most are Christians or fundamentalist "Christians". So guess who gets the criticism - because they are here.
Japanese Atheists bash Shinto, but they do it in Japanese, not in English. and the same is true for other religions, but the fact is, most English speaking people are Christians, and Most English speaking Atheists live in countries predominantly Christians, and another fact is that English speaking people are usually more sophisticated, and therefore more inclined to become atheists.
Can't speak for anyone else, but no member of any of those religions has ever got up in my face trying to bully or ridicule or guilt me into believing what they believe.
Because other religions are more logical than Christianity...
Christians give absolutely no credit to logic or man and give god all the glory for everything that happens...
It is easy for people who grow up in modern Christian societies to adopt the mindset that Christianity has "disprove" other religions. So when these people become atheists they usually don't give a second thought to other religions, especially ones with many gods.
