Default The japanese religion: Shinto..?

How can people who don't really consider themselves to be involved with a religion convert to Shinto. Not sure if convert is the correct word.

It is a mythology for people to live by. Just like evolution is much like a religion in as much as scientist try to find evidence to support their belief. You have to believe in something in order to strive to achieve things.

Shinto is not a religion. Most beliefs are categorized into being a religion when it is not.Shintoism is a belief, not a religion. It is a belief that respects ancestors. You don't convert to something that exists. This is a truth of life.It is around us at all times. They believe your ancestors are in control of everything. They don't even believe in sin because they say it is the will of their ancestors. They are supposed to be about peace and just existing.I don't even think they believe in GOD.They believe in their ancestors.

Ok that was condescending. if a person wants to be Shinto who are you to decide what they should or should not be? even if you parented them they have a mind of their own.

Read this about Shinto, it's good. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shinto
I thought that 80% of Japanese were Budhists? That ISN'T a religion, because Budha ISN'T a DIETY, false or otherwise. Budha was just a man with ideas, a lot of people in Asia took after.

Read up on it and start practicing it's tenets or practices. There are Shinto Temples in America, but not everywhere

Here is a website that has a lot of information and additional links
