Default What do I need to do to convert to Shinto?

I am trying to convert from Christianity. If anyone puts an answer such as "Shinto stinks" or anything like "Stay Christian or you will die and go to h***" I will report you.

You may have better luck posting this in the Japan section (under travel) on Y!A.

We don't have a resident Shintoist R&Ser, as far as I know.

(And you can Google this yourself, so I won't patronize you by posting a few links.)

Here's what I found when I go ogles it...
Shinto isn't a religion that requires you to convert to a system of rules; it requires a mindset, one of peaceful communion with the Jami that inhabit the world around us. I would say you have to do nothing more than either find or create a shrine or sacred, beautiful place at which to make prayers, give offerings, and perform ritual cleansing. If you can't find a shrine, which is difficult outside Japan, simply visiting a place which seems as though it could have a resident spirit, and do it there.

You might want try to find someone in your town that practices Shinto.

I sincerely doubt that you need a ceremony or anything, Shinto is a very non-organized religion. It might be hard to do if you live in the US and can't find a shrine to visit. I really only know as much about Shinto as Aime has taught me, I wish I could help you, though.
