Well, in Japanese it's called a Jinja (AA

Jinja -- The word translated as shrine
Jingu -- Ise shrine http://www.isejingu.or.jp/shosai/english/index.htm
Taisha -- A great shrine shrine under the ancient system of shrine rankings (Shikoku)
Jinja Honch? -- The Association of Shint? Shrines
