How did it get to Japan?

Shinto originated in Japan, did it not?

To my knowledge Shinto started in Japan - it was not imported.

It originated in Japan. It's basically ancestor worship.

...Shinto is native to Japan, it didn't start anywhere else but originated there. It's been described as being as old as Japan itself. It has incorporated elements from Buddhism (and Buddhism elements from Shinto) due to interaction with China and Korea, but Shinto itself is from Japan and Japan only.

It developed in Japan, the Buddhist elements that were absorbed into Shinto came from Korea and China.

I did a group project on Japan, my part being Japanese religion.
Shinto originated in Japan as reverence to Jami, or spirits, and it is still widely practiced today.

It originated in Japan and it is as intertwined into Japanese history and culture as Hinduism is in India.
