Sikhism is religion, about 400 years old only. All Sikhs are Punjabis, Punjabis is a basically a Hindu community.
What you think is a mosque where you have seen Punjabis going are not mosques. These are MAZARS( means Memorial or Grave) of SAINTS and these mazes look like mosques. These saints are SUFIS, which means that they do not believe in any particular religion but for them all religions are same. These mazes are visited by Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs and people of all religions.
More queries are welcome. My email is arku1998@hotmail.com
Your question is not a dumb question.

Sikhs are Sikhs, followers of Guru Nanak Dev Jo.

Sikh is an off shoot of Hinduism. it has no connection with Muslim.

The place of Worship is a Gurudwara - the dome may look like a mosque, but is not so. What you see in movies, is a Gurudwara. The most famous being the Golden Temple.

It is not a dumb Q. Confusion may occur if one is not familiar with these things.

Hope I have clarified your doubts.

yes, most Punjabi's are Sikh, they are the ones with the head wrapping. (although many Hindus wear that too, but not religiously)

Islam is not the same religion as Sikhism. Sikhism is it's own religion, although it draws from Hinduism and Islam. but it is definitely not Islam, or Hinduism.

People of Punjab are called the Punjabis and there are Punjabs in Indian and Pakistan .
In India, most of the people are Sikhs , they go to Gurudwara which might look like a mosque at a first glance .
In Pakistan however, most of the Punjabis are Muslims.
FYI, in bot the countries, the Punjabis speak Punjabi and the interesting thing is the most widely spoken language in Pakistan is Punjabi, not Urdu.
