There's more than one kind, just like every other religion except atheism. But atheism's not a religion as such. There's the moderates and the fundamentalists. They tend to dislike each other just like all the other religions do. Moderates can sit on chairs in the temple and fundamentalists sit on the floor. A few years ago here, they were swinging swords at one another over who was right or wrong-on the floor or on a chair? HUMANS?

To explain Sikhism, where as it is simple to understand, its very very difficult to follow. but as far as your question is concerned, the answer is given below.

1. 100% believe there is God. Sikhs believe there is only one supernatural power who has created and controlling thereafter till date. That power, whom Sikhs say Waheguru, Hindus Ram, Christians Khuda and Muslims Allah, is defined in Sikhism as below:

One Universal Creator God. The Name Is Truth. Creative Being Personified. No Fear. No Hatred. Image Of The Undying, Beyond Birth, Self-Existent. By Guru's Grace ~

Our daily routine of life is recitation of literature of True Guru, that strengthens our faith in God, chanting the name of God, associating the company of Holy and meditation on name of God.

2. I think there no need to answer the 2ND part of your question. How ever you are not at all committing sin.

A Sikh is a follower of Sikhism .
Sikhism is a religion of Indian origin .
Sikhism was founded by Guru Nanak , He was also the first Sikh Guru .
Guru is a guide . Just like you communicate with outside world with your voice , without which you will not be able to communicate . Similarly , God delivers his word , the divine name of lord ' Satnam ' through the Guru .
Just like how Sun gives his light through rays .Just like how Sea reaches to the starving shore through waves .

God reflects through Guru .
So yes , to answer your 1st Question :
Yes , God is one . As such , Sikhism is a monotheistic religion .
2ND answer :
Well , According to Sikhism , no one is a sinner , no one is born sinner and no one goes to hell just for not following a particular religion .
Some one asked Guru Nanak " Who will be awarded in God's court ? A Hindu or a Muslim ?"
Guru Nanak said " without performance of good deeds, both Hindu and Muslims will lament ". God doesn't judges which religion you follow , He just judges you by your deeds . Those souls who are not submerged in God , go in cycle of birth & death , until they have knowledge of God , (" Brahm Gyaan ")

Sikhism is the world's youngest and I believe world's simplest religion. Sikhs believe in one God. They believe in the God who created this whole universe and who created you and me. Sikhism teaches Sikhs that life is an opportunity to be one with God. All the tings we have in this world, money, relationships, etc, none of these things go with us when we die, so the main purpose of life is to pray and be one with God.
