Why are Hinduism, Buddhism, and Sikhism referred to as Indian religions?

Because India is their main "power base". It's like calling Islam a religion of the Middle East. Sure, there's a lot of Muslims outside of the Middle East, and a lot of people of other religions in the Middle East, but Islam is centered around that region.
